Why do women only rarely approach men they have a crush on?

Lots of reasons, some don't actually want to date, some believe that men should initiate, some are just shy.

For me personally, a large part of it is concern that if I approach a guy he's going to hold it against me if I end up not liking him in the long run. Which is obviously unfounded in theory, I've just had some really toxic, entitled dudes in my life who've pushed this narrative of "you didn't shut me down so you must have been leading me on" when I literally wasn't even aware they were interested. Gives a girl trust issues and makes it that much harder to initiate. Not recommending this mindset by any means, but it is kind of what I"m dealing with atm. Working on it though.

In my experience, I’ve been turned down every time. Therefore, I’ve given that up. I currently have a crush on someone, but I get nervous just talking to him about normal things. I may not tell him my feelings.

So the responses so far come down to risk of rejection. Surprise. Same reasons a lot of men won't approach women. So the cowards on both sides are just gonna stand there staring at each other. I guess that's a plan? Best of luck with that approach.

It’s not cowardice. Personally, I’m tired of being rejected. Therefore, I’m waiting for a man to approach me for a chance. I’m tired of casting a line, hoping for a bite. A man approaching me would be refreshing for a change.

Bc I am focused on God and if a guy makes no signals nor cues and then walk off frustrated, that's their problem.
