So when you hear the word Fanny what pops in your head

um... I had never heard of fanny flutters but it has an interesting definition but I am confused by the picture of the girl being decapitated. Is that another example of our cultural differences 'cuz... um... I didn't really feel any " fanny flutters" with that.
And the first thing I actually thought of was fanny pack but I think that's 'cuz u posted a couple of fanny pack questions lately. Fanny just isn't a very commonly used word in these parts.
I do have a 2nd or 3rd cousin named Fanny but I don't know her really well and I haven't seen her since last summer at the family reunion when she drank too much and threw up.
It's the murder of fanny adams
Omg, Sweet Fanny Adams, I had no idea. 😳
In the US, fanny usually means "butt." I've heard in UK it means something else.
For as long as i can remember, “fanny” has been a colloquialism for “butt”. I generally recognize that if it’s capitalized then “Fanny” is a name. However, it seems to me to be a nickname and it still conjures for me adolescent jabs stemming from the other use. Ell oh ell!
I remember being delighted to learn that “fanny” is slang for vagina in the UK. I haven’t looked deeply into its origins and development, but it strikes me as a child friendly slang term for lady parts, as opposed to something vulgar or overtly sexual.
Not much actually. If I do hear it my thinking goes... ah British/American accent - which way round is it again?
If used in Australia it would be confusing. As well as calling a spade a bloody shovel, I'd to think we'd call a cunt a cunt. But I offended some guys last week by pointing out cunt has a hallowed ancient etymology going back to proto Indo European.
Too much pussification I think.
Nah. I've heard countless explanations for cunt, latin, greek, viking, name of roman fort, the hindu goddess cunti. I quite like the rabbit hole one. But I've never heard of an Irish explanation. I've a feeling it might be one of those words that predate Indo-European
@AngryCarl2 It certainly is but I got a shock reaction from a couple of guys when I used in the correct sense.
There was near complete replacement of Y chromosome by Yamnaya guys so probably what noun they chose to use probably won out. Yamnaya, Corded ware folk and beaker folk were mostly Indo european. Seems it might derive from proto IE for woman.
Versions are pretty prolific in European languages and so likely there was an older source word that went into every language so proto IE is a good pick. Aside from European languages cunti in India needs to be explained.

Lately, I think of Fani Wallis, the Atlanta district attorney who brought several charges against Trump, then got kicked off her own case for having an affair with the guy she hired to help her, after paying him $1 million. Since then, the charges have been disappearing, one by one.
Why does it matter to anyone who she dates? I don’t understand
@On_cloud_wine It only matters that no one is held accountable for interfering in the 2020 election.
@AngryCarl2 irrelevant to my question
It matters because if you're prosecuting for misconduct then you need to be squeaky clean yourself. Pots and kettles and all that you know.
Actually, when I hear or read the word "fanny", I first of all get in my mind the image of a lady's hairy bush, the external side of their intimate parts. This makes sense considering the triangle reminding of a hand fan used to refresh oneself when it's hot outside.
By the way, Fanny, a girl's name, also pops up in my mind depending on the context of a text or conversation.
As an American, I'm used to it meaning the behind. I was in my 30s before I learned that it meant something different in the UK. And, wow, did I have to recontextualize some conversations with UK girls after I found out.
I was told fanny, was slang for British females during the War years, because of the FANY nursing organisation that is still running today.

"Short, Fat Fannie," the 1957 follow up to Larry Williams' hit,"Bony Maronie." Also, Hank Ballard and the Midnighters' late 50's raunch tune,"Annie's Aunt Fannie."
Sadly , this comes to mind.

I know a few girls who go by that name... so what's what I think about
A pioneering female rock band.
An album you probably haven't heard.
Fanny is associated with vagina where I live, hence a fanny pack is something that's worn in front of a fanny.
