Ok, sure, I'll be the one to set equal rights back by generations. I happen to like it. It's courteous, polite and has an air of "nostalgia" about it which is prolly what I like about it.

I also live in a very rural area where gender stereotypes still exist, so, there's that too.

Yeah, I think it's sweet and chivalrous. But even I hold doors open for the disabled, the elderly and families. And I never let the door shut on someone behind me. It's just kind of polite to hold doors open for others and the act sends a message of respect.

It is probably still a thing for the baby boomer generation but has stopped making sense the day that women wanted equal rights. Although, equal rights has not yet reached most men in this world that still consider women as objects, I do find it obsolete.

Equal rights also starts with men not having the need to attempt to simp because this kind of behavior is probably as it is perceived nowadays.

It is nice if someone does it to a woman but I always get the feeling that they want something from me that I am not willing to give.

I think it depends on the intention behind it.

When it’s genuine and respectful, “ladies first” can feel thoughtful.

But if it’s just for show or comes with expectations, it loses its charm.
