Have a friend, 36f, had second kid in April, coming up on a year. Me, 38m, no kids
Throughout her first baby, we kept in touch a lot especially through email. We would email each other three to four times a week. Obviously did not expect it to stay that frequent especially with second baby.
that boy is now three…
Thing is, I’ve noticed a change. I’m thinking it is normal assuming she’s dealing with two boys at the time. She has told me she doesn’t have time to be emailing/texting like before. But I’m noticing it at work…we work in the same building, different departments.
we would always text through out the day. Lately, she hasn’t really. In the past, she would be so enthusiastic texting me. Happy to know I’m around. A lot of exclamations and emojis. Now, there’s none of that, a lot of “hi” and “how are you”…compared to her usually “hi!! Good morning!!!” lol the texting is way less…but I’ve noticed her saying she’s been tired and baby is keeping her up.
throws me off…because when I do sometimes pass by her department, she’s chatting it up with other people like her usual self.
but again, with me, she’s calmer and quieter sometimes.
not sure if it’s me…or she’s just comfortable with me she feels she doesn’t need to be chatty.
prob looking too into it
i care a lot about this woman, just want to understand why it might be this way. I’m consistent but then again I have no kids lol
She shows she cares different ways I guess…recently bought my sick dog some special farmers dog food to get her to eat. Thought that was nice…

What Girls Said
So you’re upset because she stopped using punctuation in her text messages? Am I understanding this correctly?
Not upset at all…just not who I’ve known her to be for a while now. She is shorter in text now than she used to be also and doesn’t invite me over to hang out when her department is slow like she always did before. Used to be like clockwork to the point that she’d joke around and tell me to go over as soon as she saw I was in the building…now she never does. And she’s alone most mornings for hours in her department.
Just wondering if it’s normal or if it’s a sign she’s disconnecting from the friendship.
So why don’t you just invite her out?
She probably has her days where she is tired from two young kids.
