Women, do you find words like "female" or "girl" offensive?

I have no idea if this is a view the majority of women hold but I've seen women online who are super offended by the words female and girl.

Something about the word female being animal like and the word girl being used to describe children and as such it's dehumanizing when men use those words instead of just saying women.

I do realize the irony of asking if girl is offensive on a site literally called "girls ask guys."

As a man I don't believe I get to have an opinion on it but as long as it's nothing something like "men and females" or "men and girls" then I would guess it's not offensive. Say males and females or guys and girls or boys and girls. But not men and females or girls.

I find female offensive but not girl

I find girl offensive but not female.

I find both offensive.

I find neither offensive.

I’ve heard of grown women being offended by being called a girl, and that’s fair enough to me. Imagine making it to your fifties and up only to have someone call you “girl” to your face. It’s disrespectful.
I’ve never heard of a woman taking offense to being called female unless paired with a derogatory statement. Like when men use broad generalizations such as “females are always gonna do that sort of thing”, “you’re a female so what would you know about xyz”, or “she’s just another emotional female”. The usage is degrading in these respects.

That makes perfect sense. I can't imagine a man making it to his fifties would appreciate being called "boy" either.

I'd say I'm young enough to be considered boy since at this age I basically just started adulting and high school wasn't even that long ago for me but at 50 I'd probably hate it.

Yeah those broad generalizations are indeed degrading.

depends on the context. like, if my boyfriends says i am his girl, thats cute, i dont mind. but if my boss says i can't do something because girls are illogical, yup im offended lol
