every girl likes different stuff. some chicks like Justin Bieber, who to me is disgusting...some like rugged, some like professional...it depends on the chick, so don't lose all hope at getting a girl. lol.

but rugged is like, sorta unshaven but not a beard, loose clothes, not a suit and tie and/or dockers and penny loafers. more like baggy jeans with holes, and a shirt that is loose fitting, like, for comfort, but not gross and dirty and wrinkled.

so, brad pit is rugged, so is russel crowe, people like that.

no way its not just about ruggedness. ruggness has some manliness to it, its masculinity. I mean not everyone cuts it. there's some people who looked really rugged or look like they came out from a cave, but that doesn't make them necessarily more desirable. its just about personal taste. so ofcourse you don't need to be rugged to get a girl.

Windy-Rose is correct via the update. It's a repulsive quality in anyone, not just the opposite gender. You might as well ask why ugly people aren't attractive.

Insecurity is just horribly unattractive.

Mostly true, yes. So that's what you need to work on. Your insecurities. And guess what? That's something that's quite easy to work on.

It's a lot easier to become more secure/confident, than it is to become more "rugged". You should look on this as good news.

Looking "rugged" isn't a necessity to get girls. You do however, need to have masculine traits. Whether or not they make you rugged is irrelevant.

* to your update: I would extend being insercure not just as an unattractive quality to girls, but to anyone. Well liked people are just generally self-assured or appear to be. When someone one is looking for a person to be in a relationship, they're usually looking for someone a bit past what they'd look for in a friend. If you wouldn't want to be friends with someone whose continually down on themselves, why would you want to date them?

Guys can be unsure or insecure about something, but there's a difference between that and letting insecurities dominate one's life in some regard. And that's not even a tell all of whether a girl would date him or not. Its just probably not helping his case.

a kind of mountain man, maybe some stubble and chiseled features. muscles also. When I think of rugged, I think of a kind of bad boy appearence, maybe a cop or army dude, a dark persona. here's a definition: showing facial signs of strength. But I personally prefer a guy with little muscle, but I do quite like the stubblie look.
