Is she avoiding our date ?

I made plans to hang out with this girl from my class last Friday, but she change it to this Friday because we had finals. So on our last final which was Tuesday, I asked her if she was able to hang out with me this Friday since she was the one who told me. She said "Yes", but I hit her up yesterday, around 1pm and got nothing. I figured she was busy or something, which I know she isn't because she doesn't work at all. Today is Friday, and I decided to text her saying, "hey was up" again. It was around the same time, and yet, I haven't received anything back from her and it's about to be 3pm. For some reason I think this chick is just avoiding me, and going out the cowardly way. I don't really care much to hang out with her today, but the simple fact that people can't be honest and straight forward with you just pisses me off for some reason. So I purposely texted her, asking, " Hey, I just want to know whether you want to hang out or not. If you don't want to is cool". It's not the dating part that gets me mad, because I can find more girls to date, it's just the fact that people rather be cowards, and it's always the people you don't expect it from. So what is your opinion, what do you think, what should I do?

I think your instincts are right. These are not the actions of a girl who is smitten. These are the actions of a girl who was barely interested to begin with and now doesn't know how to get out of it.

So, yes, the dating world is filled with people that do not know how to tell someone they changed their mind and would rather not date. It happens a lot. It can be a pretty uncomfortable situation to actually tell another person you are not attracted to them like that. Worse, some guys and girls can really push back against a statement like that.

I personally learned how to decline a date. I would just tell the person that I thought about it, and I did not feel like we had enough in common but I wished them the best. It always went well for me. However, I have definitely been subject to flaky guys who obviously did not know how to tell me they were no longer interested. Worse are the people who do things to purposely irritate you so you tell them off. I have a cousin who told me that she absolutely cannot break up with a boyfriend so instead she gets really flaky and basically rude until they cannot take it anymore and break up with her. It happens.

Stop contacting this girl and ignore her. If she isn't avoiding your date, then she is just incredibly rude. Who needs her in either case.

At least you're honest. It's about having courage, and admitting to the person the truth. How can people live life, if they can't even pull out the courage to be honest.

Hey, I don't fault people for being uncomfortable but really, if people thought about it more they would realize that it should hardly be devastating that someone just isn't feeling it for them. However, a certain amount of people place too much importance on a first date. They want some high level of assurance that a first date is going to lead to more. Instead we all need to recognize that a first date is simply testing the waters and could lead to nothing. Good luck!

I keep it simple... if we have plans and she doesn't respond to my text I call her. She might be sleeping or forgot. Whatever. If she doesn't pick up. It is fine, I will assume she is bussy, forgot her cellphone, is out of battery, banging someone else, don't care. It is not like she is your girlfriend? Anyway wait for her to apologize, or call her a couple days later just to check everything is OK. If she still ignores you, she is a self centered cold bitch and is not the kinda person you would want to be with is it?

Do keep in mind though it is the holiday season and people tend to be bussy with shopping and getting ready for the big celebration.

She doesn't celebrate Christmas, which I think is weird. That's why I think she is avoiding me, and plus, before we set up the date thing, she would text back at me, and now it just seems weird. You know that feeling you get. But like I said, I don't really care about the date with her much, my problem is the way people handle the situation. You know, going out the cowardly way, like avoiding or making excuses, instead of just being honest.

Ye I get you. I wouldn't assume her excuse is bs just yet though. But if you are certain then just move on. You know how many times it has happened to me? I can't even remember how many times. I don't let it phase me, if she doesn't want to date me, her lose. It is an important mentality to have.
