Can you tell the difference between a guy who is shy and a guy who is arrogant?

I'm shy and awkward when it comes to girls. I'm normally a quiet person but around girls I like I become silent. If they try and talk to me I will only talk a little, like answering any questions they ask and not make an effort to carry the conversation forward. It's not because I'm not interested, it's because I become awkward around girl I like. My eye contact would almost be non-existent too. If she makes eye contact with me I would make eye contact for like a second and then look away again.

Sometimes I wonder whether I come across as arrogant or not interested whereas I'm actually shy and awkward. Would you be able to tell the difference between an arrogant guy and a shy guy?

i cannot tell the difference and to be frank, I'm too chicken to put myself out there to find out if it's just shyness. I would assume disinterest and move along.

the problem, however, is that I like quiet guys. I'm pretty outgoing, but not when it comes to guys, so I guess I'm attracted to that quiet type because he seems less intimidating... until I can't figure him out and leave him alone lol.

it's a frustrating and vicious cycle.

As a girl I would probably be able to tell that you are shy rather than arrogant, but maybe that's becuase I am the same exact way around guys. But you should really try to get past this becuase a girl would pass you by not knowing that you are a great guy. Take chances and go for it :)

With that alone I wouldn't be able to form a conclusion. The only thing I could possibly think is that if you're shy but I would have to see some nervous reaction or hear it in your voice. A lot of guys say they are shy but they don't even appear that way when I'm talking to them.

Sometimes it's hard to tell but usually the arrogant guys are the ones who can stare at you without blinking and still manage to be rude while the shy guys look away, blush, and nervously smile more.

I would think you shy. this happening to me with a coworker. Maybe you can help in the flirting section. I almost feel like he doesn't me when I first met him.

I wouldn't think you were arrogant but I'd assume you were either shy or uninterested.
