Do men feel uncomfortable with a beautiful woman?

I was watching TV and in this series they showed two very similar in personality women. One was very goodlooking and the other one average looking ( she wasn't ugly but not good looking either, don't know if there is halfway there). The good looking one was single with no one apparently interested in her, while the other one had a 3 years relationship, after that a fling with somebody and now was starting a story with a new guy ( I'll see how it goes in next episode ).

Talking to a friend we realized that that happens in real life too.

Is there a reason?

Keep in mind the personality is very similar, just the looks are different.

Do you guys feel uncomfortable at approaching a very good looking girl?

My personal experience is very attractive women are a pain, they attract so much trash and seem to have a very hard time developing into a person.

Guys feel safe with an average woman.

I have had mostly very bad luck with very beautiful women. I don't cheat but if I go out with a pretty soon I find out she has a boyfriend and is just shopping or using me. The prettys seem like they are trading something to be there.

Everyone loves a beautiful woman but having to deal with other guys and women after her is like a unnecessary job.

I have dated the most beautiful women from around the world and all is the same, there are always someone hitting on them. Some one always wanting to use them for this or that. Attracting nothing but trash.

At my local Home Depot they do not hire pretty cashiers because the guys spend hours flirting and holding up the line to the point they cost them money. If retail business finds them expensive just think what they can cost a man who wants something.

Now when I see a very attractive woman I think first that she is a thief or scammer or so used up they would not make good marriage material. Who wants a woman who has done the football team? When I see attractive women my thoughts that she has possible done more guys than your average prostitute and did not get paid for it.

Now the plain Jane or average looking woman can be a bigger prize. First she is better developed and normally better mentally developed. Her beauty is more private and often she does not know that she is a 10. Guys find the average looking more attractive because they are more complete in every way. They attract a lot of guys but the women seem to have more heart.

A guy feels safe being with hidden beauty and safe leaving her alone. God know how to hide beauty and the world is balanced. When you see an average guy marring an ugly woman you know it must be love. When you see 2 pretties you don't know why they are marring or one might think the moment her ass starts to sag, his words will be "next".

There is a balance in life.

I can't ever really understand this about women. Some women think they're too hot for men and don't pay them any attention and other women fear other women because they think they're too hot for society in general. It's just sad that looks are so important today and actually are factors of intimidation. I could care less how anyone thinks I look, granted I have always had success with women, but still it's a little much. Guys always want a hot one, just like girls want in return, but no one wants a hot bitch who know's she's hot. I know way too many hot girls who are single because guys just don't want to deal with them.

I was curious because sometimes guys don't even approach a good looking woman. They expect her to be bitchy. And if the guy is fine with her, his friend, other women, somebody is going to be criticizing the girl. What if she is really nice? Is it her fault she is good looking? I don't think that looks are so important, tough we do live in a society that is all about the looks...

So maybe it's time to change the image then. Yes, often times many guys won't approach women because they think she'll be bitchy or in turn be too "good" for her or like she deserves to be handed the world on a platter. All guys want an attractive girl, just like all girls want an attractive guy, but personality has fallen to the last thing on the list that's important behind looks and money. It's just sad. A smile speaks a thousand words and the more you smile, the more you're approached.

I totally agree with you a smile speaks a thousand words. I am the kind of person that really doesn't care about looks. So I don't understand this form of exclusion to certain people. As you say all guys want an attractive woman, but they won't even try to approach one because they think they are going to be mean, and is better to think bad of a person than face rejection?

It's perfectly understandable because people fear and hate rejection. No one ever wants to get their hopes up of a positive response from someone just to be shot down. Hot girls who know they're hot typically suck, but hot girls who smile and are personable are much easier to approach. Actions speak louder than words and you also never wanna be labeled as a bitch because then you're all done for.

I have this happen to me...

I don't consider myself to be very good looking, but a lot of people think I have a pretty face and working out at the gym a lot, my body is being appreciated more.

Anyway. I had a 5 year relationship with a guy and pretty much nothing since. I have people comment on my looks a lot, and I get cheeky "oh I would if you were up for it" type of things but rarely relationship offers and most of it is all words.

Whereas my friend who... well, I'm going to be blunt. I am more attractive. She claims to work out all the time but my body is much firmer and muscled than hers is, I'm more toned. She works crazy hours so I wouldn't be surprised if her "hour and a half run" is more like a 10 minute walk... but she is constantly sleeping around with men and being offered relationships and love left right and centre.

I've asked guy mates before about the differences and I was told bluntly "it's because she's easy and because her standards are lower than yours - you are pickier because you know you can afford to be."

I'm not sure it's 100% true, especially the last bit, but maybe that helps?

Mind you, I was also told by someone "women are like apples - the ones on the lower branches and floor are easy to fall and easy to pick up. But the ones higher up and riper are harder to get to so people give up and just appreciate instead" Again, not sure it's 100% but a nice idea :)

Due to my job as a photographer in NYC I know a lot of female actors and models (male too but that's beside the point). At least in NYC, beautiful women get approached a LOT, by a whole range of guys. But they still complain guys never approach them because those that actually do, in their minds are so far below their league that they don't count. The irony is, once some of those guys that did not count by hook or by crook get a woman on their arm, they begin to count in the eyes of other women.

Hmm I understand the viewpoint, been there myself. I don't think it's as much as doesn't count, more like don't want it to count? Sometimes feels like that's all we can get and can be a little... upsetting when you're never approached by good looking guys.

no no no .. you can't call the average looking girls .. the lower apple or the apple than fell from the tree and then from the curb to the road .. those are sluts or whores .. and no one said that the prettiest girls -like yourself to your words- are on the top of the tree .. when it comes to the tree we are talking about the person as a whole not just his looks !

Personally, I go for a girl I wouldn't be afraid would think is too beautiful to be with me. Rejection sucks, and if the less attractive girl is at least somewhat attractive she's not as intimidating, you're less likely for her to think she's too good looking for you. I know most extremely beautiful women aren't like that, but that's just what I think most people perceive.

It's a bad thing to do, but the truth is, I think it's just the survival thing. For me, rejection is one of my worst fears, so if I saw a women who was extremely beautiful, I would just think that I would be nowhere near on her level, so why would she be interested in somebody like me. And, I think a lot of people (not everybody) has some form of those thoughts. So, you're less likely to be hurt by somebody who isn't as attractive.

Ok, now this goes against what I am trying to say but... haven't you never saw a couple and tought 'What a mismatched couple?' . I supposed one of them had to had the courage to go to the other and talk...

Well, I would think that they probably had some quality the person liked. Like, while I may find somebody to be ugly, they might be the most beautiful person to somebody else. Like, that show you were watching; maybe the more average girl was considered more beautiful, and y'all just saw the other one as more beautiful. Perception is a really funny thing.

beauty is in the eyes of the beholder ( I think is the English version of what I want to say ). But there are some people that are good looking. You may not want to go for it, but still you can deny that they are good looking.

Precisely, it all depends on what people find attractive. Well, for example, some people find Ryan Reynolds to be the most attractive thing over, and I'm just like, not really. Just like, I think Adam Gontier and Ben Bruce are extremely gorgeous, and a lot of people wouldn't think they are, at all.

I think men are often uncomfortable with good looking women, if they don't have friendly personalities. If you don't make them feel comfortable, they're intimidated by you. If you're quiet and keep to yourself, on top of being good looking, they don't normally try too hard to get to know you.

That's what I was discussing with my friend, sometimes people don't even give a chance and think that a beautiful woman, and also a handsome man, would think they're too good for the rest of the world without even talking to them...

i think the problem here is that most beautiful girls have high standards although they have got nothing but their looks .. so why have high standards ?!

of course I prefer average looking girls .. they are easy to talk to .. more fun .. can give you the attention you deserve and at the same time appreciate all the good things you do to them !

Guys are more likely to hit on an average or above average girl than a very beautiful type for sure. A lot of it has to do with confidence and fear of rejection. The concept of someone being "out of one's league". I'm sure girls that are like a 7 or 8 on the attraction scale get hit on much more than a girl who's a 9 or 10, but I find it hard to believe that a girl who's a 9 or 10 would have a hard time finding someone as there are still plenty of guys that will hit on them

Most guys will not approach a hot girl. Even those guys who do approach a hot girl successfully will have serious reservations about getting involved with her. Personally, I prefer average girls.

Girls often complain that guys have super high standards for looks. The truth really is the opposite. Most guys, even hot guys, have a tendency to avoid hot girls.

You mention handsome men not being given a chance. But the thing is, guys are used to the reality that they have to approach if they're going to get romance. So hot guys aren't disadvantaged compared to other guys. Most girls, of whatever attractiveness level, do not approach.
