I'm going to get a lot of hate for this but I would consider myself to be a feminist. But I would not consider myself to be a feminist in the sense of how the term is taken in society today.

In my Crim class we discussed liberal feminism and critical feminism as views for gender differences in crime rates. Liberal feminism is very chill and realistic. Critical feminism is the psycho crazy feminism which says that women are delinquent because men keep them down and are sexist. Liberal feminism addresses the old days when gender roles were prominent and says that historically women were less delinquent than men because their social roles did not permit for delinquency to occur as often. It goes on to say that as the gender roles go away and as what is socially acceptable for men and women becomes closer in similarity the crime rates will too.

I identify as more of a chill feminist. I recognize when equality is there - I'm not blind to it like the more extreme feminists seem to be. I am against this concept of killing men, of course. It seems extremely idiotic lol. Killing off an entire gender? And how exactly do these crazy women expect to create more crazy women once the men are all dead? Hmmm? The truth of the matter is that most guys are pro-equality (which is what feminism originally was for) just like most feminists. It's the extremists of both genders who fuel the whole feminist debate. The rest of society is just stuck in the middle trying to get the crazies to shut up and stop trying to find 1800's problems in 2014.

I feel it's amusing and quite telling that people (especially males) find this misandry yet seemingly find guys sending violent rape/death threats against gals to be jokes and gals overreacting/being too sensitive when commenting on it.

Yes I find mocking/ridiculing MRA feminist stereotypes to be an appropriate response.

I just watched a documentary the other day called "It's A Girl" about gendercide STILL going on in China and India. It made me, once again, remember where I was born and how the women here (US) seriously bitch about things that don't even really matter, in the grand scheme of things.
I'm a woman, and I've NEVER been the 'victim of a man' based on gender. I live in small town Texas, where life is supposedly more old-fashioned, and I've STILL never experienced it and I've never seen any other women experience here.

I'm not a feminist because I believe in TRUE equality.
Sadly, feminism doesn't have anything to do with that anymore.

Very Well put indeed Sparrow. I too grew up in a small town in Texas, and despite what feminist ideology dictates, I have never oppressed or raped a woman. I find the idea of it appalling, but more so I find it appalling that they think I would just because I am male.

I do believe that when one is fighting for equal rights, it should be equal rights for ALL, not just one group/race/gender.

Feminism is the belief that women should be equal to men, and be treated and viewed equally in society, which they currently are not. I think the scales have tipped, I think once upon a time women needed an advocacy group to fight for their rights - they got them, but at the expense of ours. If you want to think men have more rights than we need, have kids and get divorced.

Also from your excerpt, "equality for women." - that says nothing of actual equality. Keeping a cause alive means finding/creating inequality at all costs to maintain relevance.

Sure, some family and divorce courts favor women--we pretty much all know that. But how about equal pay? Equal job opportunities? Are you denying that those aren't real issues?

It doesn't inherently mean more for them less for us, but it realistically has meant exactly that. I think we balanced the equation correctly for the short term, but failed for the long term. Women were treated pretty horribly at the time these policies were implemented.

10% of men get custody of their kids, 7% of alimony recipients are men. 80% of child support recipients are female, along with 93% of alimony recipients... that's not "some family and divorce courts" that's systemic.

The equal pay thing isn't really a thing, i mean it is if you take all men vs all women - but if you actually do equal pay for equal work as the political slogan says, women get paid the same if not more. And when you consider all the tax free baby daddy money etc, the scale still tips more towards women.

Noone mentioned the right to vote... or maternity leave. However since you bring up maternity leave... if you take it, is it still considered equal work? I think not, but feminists would, and would in turn demand pay raises equal to that of their male counterparts who do not take maternity leave.

I'm not keeping score, but demographic data is there, and the numbers feminists push are outright misleading. Those numbers include stay-at-home parents, and if you look at those demographics alone you can see why the shift seems so radical. Noone is saying they slack, but you don't see women in dangerous jobs that tend to pay more - how many female pipe fitters do you think Halliburton employs? Dangerous jobs tend to pay more, and they're jobs women are largely unwilling to take, especially when they can just marry a man that will do all of that for them.

@cipher42 There are any number of things that happen that indicate your statement to not be true, from feminists preventing men from talking about male suicide (and spitting in their face for having a conversation without women) to feminists who sell tickets to a play then tell all the men to leave after taking their money, because it is a womans space.
