5 Things That G@G Does Right. #ListenIfYouWant

(I've been pretty negative lately, so I'll write a more light hearted take this time)

I'm also going to start a new hashtag called #ListenIfYouLike

If you don't want to read this myTake you can always listen to it in the provided link below.

G@G isn't perfect, but there are some things that this app does that most social media outlets ignore. I believe we should take some time to appreciate what separates G@G from most websites/apps.

So I want to present this short yet well meant myTake ...

1.) Banning NSFW imagery and inflammatory questions.

From dick pics to snatch snaps, NSFW imagery has been banned on the get go, and at an alarming rate.

Even offensive topics such as race baiting, rape enabling, and sex baiting are usually found outside of T. O. S.

Not to immediately get negative again, but it's undeniable that this site rakes in a lot of deplorable traffic, even based off of the apps name.

It tends to attract hypersexual tweens, sexist /racist middle aged men, and sometimes all out potential rapists.

But while this is true about the user base traffic, G@G still doesn't want to try to appeal to that audience, proceeding to delete offensive, rape enabling ,and graphic imagery off the site.

Finally a website that actually enforces terms of service.

2.) Banning social soliciting

This is a minor one, but I do appreciate it nevertheless.

This isn't a chatroom site, nor is it a dating site at this point, even if it says so in the description.

While chatting with people in G@G can be fun, this isn't really the site to be soliciting it. Especially when most people on this website will respond with intentions to sext or find ways to harass others online.

Banning chat solicitor questions is more or less a slap on the wrist for keeping this site an open discussion thread, rather than a "hey who wants to role play online?" app. Which is, in a sense, a good method for keeping the app what it's intended for.

3.) Respecting privacy

Having the ability to post privately and anonymously has its benefits (even though I wrote a whole satire take about it).

It allows people to at least have a subtle sense of privacy when using this site. From having the ability to have a private profile, to people getting banned for outing other G@Ggers without solid evidence.

This site at least has a dignified amount of respect for their users privacy, which is indicative by the features allowed for use on G@G.

This site may be small and doesn't get a lot of attention, but the potential to stay anonymous and keep your distance is still respectable.

4.) Developing a point system

As much as it's an addiction machine, it's actually quite brilliant.

Breaking down likes and dislikes into points not only motivates the common user to interact with the site, it also allows them to be motivated to use other features such as the myTake system or the poll system.

It makes posting questions and opinions feel like a game, similar to Karma on reddit only on a smaller scale.

5.) Assigning roles and rewarding users.

This ties into the whole Xper point system as well. With people being able to earn the ability to ask more than 3 questions, or having the ability to have their myTakes automatically promoted, or having the ability to take down horrific questions after they become a mod.

The MHO percentage is also a good motivator, because it shows others how many opinions you post and how many people actually find them helpful.

I'm at a 9% MHO but that's because I barely post opinions anymore, and they're usually not helpful. And the site shows that to not only give you a goal to have your opinions be well thought out and helpful, but also to show you how helpful you're actually being based on other's approval.

Motivating people to gain a following on this small yet snug site has always seemed more plausible than doing it on Twitter or Facebook, where actual famous people exist.

It's almost like you can feel as if you're at least slightly more important than you actually are.

Wrap up

This site may have a lot of problems, but it's features are fun, most of the people I follow are chill, and the douchebags on this site are easy to spot. Thank you G@G for a good 7 months of me wasting my life, while having fun in the process!

And you, the reader and/or listener, can have a nice day.
