I couldn't agree more, most of us in here have been either insulted by trolls, or harassed by spammers...
Not to mention various scammers on the other internet sites, as well as hackers and other cyber criminals, still unpunished by the law.
Freedom of speech is not an essential right, it's in fact an excessive right.
That's why I suggest it should be restricted, because it's frequently and deliberately misused by lots of spiteful and toxic people.
You must be an AOC fan. You cry like she does. Your feelings do not take priority over my rights. That is why freedom of speech exists. To protect unpopular speech. Popular speech doesn't need protection. It sounds like you want to be insulated from the consequences when it comes to the decisions you make.
You sound like you're making a lot of assumptions that couldn't be further from the truth... Who said this was about me... It's about anyone abusing anyone online... C and that's not what free speech is... And anyway being overly offensive is sharing the rules on this site.. Maybe you need to read them again... Considering most people are jerks, freedom of speech is usually used for insulting other people, that's why I don't believe in it, never have, never will, it's a form of extreme freedom and should be banned for good.

So while agree it is not a right to abuse people, verbal speech is a strange thing. It is a two way transaction, the speaker must intend to create some type of emotion response if that is the intent. The speaker may also try to make a logical or educational point in the the words the speaker is using.
The listener must either choose to react emotionally or ignore the intent of hateful speech. Just as people refuse to learn in school but ignoring what a teacher says, people can also ignore the logical or educational speeches. Verbal abuse is about accepting what someone says as fact.
Now the big difference is when there is a physical punch in the face.

Freedom of speech is the right to offend. As with billions of people on the earth, millions in your city, hundreds of thousands in your area and however many in your house, there will always be someone to take offence. These are not people you built a society around.

@Brainsbeforebeauty Common decency says you don't abuse anyone but you have the right to say whatever to whoever, this is where morality comes in and people temper what they say and to whom. BUT NO ONE gets to tell any individual what they can or can't say. It is a concept called freedom. Being free doest mean being nice even though it's preferable.

Well I did before on here.. met her in person when she was here visiting a mutual friend and they spent most of her week long visit at my house 3 years ago, we hit it off well technically over speaker phone but in person as well... She had people harass he t in the past, use her profile pics in posts to make fun of her (long before I knew her it was on here) think the last straw was GAG making the decision to set all influencer's profiles to public cuz that's why hers was private in the first place... But that's my point.. That kinda crap shouldn't be tolerated and acceptable... But bet there people who were doing that probably still on here... That's f:d up shit there

There's also compelled speech, when you're forced to say or not say something. For example, being anti-feminism at a feminist rally can lead to injuries or worse. But having a mens' rights rally is so outrageous that it's not even allowed.
