Being a better person on GAG in 2023

Being a better person on GAG involves following a few basic principles:

Treat other Gaggers with respect: This means being polite and considerate of others' feelings and opinions, even if you disagree with them. Avoid using derogatory or inflammatory language, and try to be understanding of others' perspectives.

Protect others' privacy: Respect others' right to privacy by not sharing personal information about them without their permission. This includes not sharing sensitive or confidential information, such as financial or medical records...especially sensitive information like their address or phone number.

Be mindful of your online presence: Be aware of how your online actions and words may impact others. Think before you post or comment, and consider the potential consequences of your words. This site is meant to help others not attack individuals for their opinions.

Be a good Gagger: Follow the terms of service and community guidelines Avoid engaging in activities that may be harmful to others or the community, such as spamming or cyberbullying. Block and report people who are breaking terms of service.

Seek to understand: When interacting with others on GAG, try to be open-minded and willing to listen to and understand their perspectives. This can help foster respectful and constructive dialogue and reduce misunderstandings.

We all can do a better job at being better people on GAG including myself. What tips do you have for being a better gagger?

I dunno.

Mr. Anthony, I would like to say that while, these may be worthwhile endeavors at other sites and on other platforms, I am not sure why anyone would confuse GaG with being a place that is about understanding, fostering respect, honoring privacy, etc.

I guess may be I could use a little education on the actual goals of the site itself.

1. First let me say, GaG's ownership, its management, etc. can moderate, enact whatever policy, it sees fit. My tax dollars do not go into the creation and maintenance of this site. Therefore it would be a bit silly to whine about my treatment here.

2. That said, it isn't like there is a strict unbiased, clear code of conduct enforced here. Which again is fine. But given this statement, it does create a bit of confusion.

3. Because my impression of the site is that it really isn't concerned about diverse opinions on relationships, fostering understanding between men and women, or just getting folks to a better place with relationships in general.

4. It is a great place for conflict. It is a great flame zone. A lot of politics is discussed here. The concept of race is discussed here in a very ignorant fashion. I mean, again, the site can be whatever the owners want it to be. And it is what it is. But I have had folks use racial slurs on my takes and questions. The posts were never removed. I have had the most insulting profane posts directed at me. I have seen them directed at others. I have had my posts removed for the slightest infraction. I have seen attempts to dox or reveal private information of other members. And even as I have been punished in defending myself and others, I don't complain because again, I don't own the site. I am a member simply because I am allowed to be. Just like my membership at every other social network. They allow me to have an account. But this isn't a relationship site. That's just not what the majority of these questions and posts are about.

5. I am not trying to be insulting. But it is kind of hard to consider the advice genuine. I just figured the site is what you guys want it to be. And there is no "mission statement" for GaG. So I figured the site's goals are what the site is achieving in terms of fostering understanding between men and women or between different groups of people in general. Which in my humble opinion is at best to provide a platform for flaming, insulting, and harming those efforts at understanding. Because it gives voice to too many people who have those goals in mind.

I don't know if you or anyone will respond. But this whole group discussion deal about fostering understanding is my life's passion. When you create this kind of platform, you kind of end up with folks who are either trying to figure out how to get to a better place with understanding others. . . or the type who are trying to set fire to everything.

I appreciate the comment. I don't want to get into the weeds I just wanted to say we can all be better in 2023 no matter how little or big one sees it. It's up to the individual to play their part as they see fit. If people don't agree that's okay. I am not here to change anyone's mind on anything. If one person is kinder on here because of this Take great. I've done my job in helping others see things a different way. Happy New Year.

My suggestions:

1. Try to respond to the people who take the time to offer an opinion on your question. I see so many legit questions asking for real answers on real things, people write responses, and it's just crickets from the asker.

2. Select MHO. Don't let a computer do it. Come on. People took time to answer your question and you can't bother to select MHO and you want GaG's algorithm to do it?

3. Say thank you when someone select's your answer as MHO.

4. Click the "like" button more.

@snowden I did all the things you listed we should do until very recently. I would write opinions that took a while to write, and some were heartfelt. But time and time again, my opinion was chosen Best or MHGIRL. So, I stopped selecting them myself.
Please realize that people such as my self may have a medical condition that doesn't allow them to do a whole lot of writing. I do give likes or loves to a lot of user's for their opinion.
