Last Days of 2023: Let's Have a Look at What Has Happened on GAG Throughout the Year🎄✨

Although there were difficult times all over the world this year, we also shared good moments together on GAG in 2023. We are so happy and hopeful for 2024!💕🎊

Let's take a trip back in time and see what happened on GAG throughout the year:

You asked the questions on your mind and others in the community shared their own experiences🤳🏾💪🏾

We are so glad that you've interacted with us this year, with your inspiring ideas!

You shared more than 3 million questions and answers, and also, we have around 35k new users on GAG!

In 2023, mostly, girls asked the questions and the guys answered them. These conversations mostly took place on Relationships topics.

Our moderators have always supported GAG with their moderation and our Influencers with their posts and assistance in their fields of expertise!🤸🏿‍♀️🎊

Throughout the year, our moderators did their best to help us and removed approximately 22k posts that were against our site rules.

Our Influencers have shared almost 520k posts, both participating in conversations under the topics and helping other users with their problems.

On GAG, we organized various contests on special days throughout the year. Users competed and won some gifts, each with creative answers.💐

Throughout the year, we organized many contests, including Summer Contest, Fourth of July Contest, Autumn Contest, Halloween Contest, Thanksgiving/Fall Contest and Christmas Contest. Although we sometimes have difficulties choosing among those cool answers, each time we rewarded the best ones!🌈

We've made some updates on GAG, and with your support and requests, we will focus more on updates in 2024.💫

- We changed the name of our Live Feed page to "Discover"and updated its design. We believe that it is more easy to navigate on page now.

- We have updated the design of the ''polls'' and so, the poll options are more elegant and the results screen is more clear now.

- We have activated topics such as Valentine's Day and Holidays so that you can more easily follow the conversations on special days.

2023 has been a wonderful year with you Gagger! We hope 2024 will be such a special year where we talk more, share and have a lot of fun together.

Thanks GAG for all you do. But if you don’t mind could you please do the following in 2024?

• Bring back emoticon voting on opinions including downvotes? Not having that voting option anymore really watered down the engagement experience GAG once had 2 years ago. It’s nice to know if a post is funny, helpful or even unpopular.
• Give the QA, take or an opinion poster 60 seconds to quickly edit any typos they made?
• Keep a closer eye on politically bias moderators who want to censor any content that goes against their narrow ideologies? I’m all for censoring legitimate hate speech especially when someone is yelling profanities or slurs at a certain identity of people. But there is group of moderators who went absolutely went this year trying to flag and censor any content they didn’t agree with. This is supposed to be a public square where differences of opinions are welcome. But there was certainly a push this year to censor out different viewpoints. That’s got to stop.

Anyway thanks for everything you do GAG! I know it’s not easy to make everyone happy. But this is an invaluable resource to chat about certain important topics that people might be otherwise sheepish discussing otherwise.

@blueonblack22 I was going to mention the mods thing, so glad you did. They also did the same thing to me as well. What's worse is that many of them walk around the site trying to ignore you when you bring a problem to their attention, simply because you are a user they dislike.

It's not my problem if my posts or comments bother you because you know you identify with what I said, but it is my problem that you want to act as a thought police and try to remove everything.

At the end of the day I really do want what’s best for the wider community. I have always been thoughtful in my opinions and I do my best to be considerate to others even when their comments get under my skin. I very rarely flag content unless it’s blatant spamming, trolling (name calling with no provocation) or using direct slurs to disparage an individual (also with no provocation).

However there are certain GAG users and mods who will consistently flag ANY content they don’t like no matter how respectfully it was written if it goes against their ideologies. The content almost always gets reinstated after an admin reviews it but still it’s just ridiculous.

GAG was meant to have countervailing (and often controversial) viewpoints. And if someone is really being an idiot it’s better for them to hear harsh criticism vs. being censored outright. When they do get censored they only get even more entrenched in their views. And if somebody can’t handle a dissenting opinion then they don’t belong here in the first place. They need to grow some thicker skin (as long as the disagreement wasn’t using profanities/slurs). People have the option to be safe via anonymity on here.

Yes! To all of this. You got my thumbs up and on that last point "HELL YES!' ... but I would also add a part about those moderators that have silly 95% MHO's because they report anyone with better answers. I had one answer that got picked for MHO and the same guy reported me 4 times afterwords. The question asker liked me, other people liked me, question asker gave me MHO... but some mod in there was pissed. Each report to 3 or 4 days for me to return... gotta wait for those admin reviews. Whoever the admin is... they're sensible... a lot of the moderators though... why would you ever pick those people?

I mean they do shit like report people to just get a better MHO% score... what kind of life goal is that bullshit?

See, I can say this to you and the only reason I'm not "reported" already is because the mods have been blocked by me. Food for thought... like why have I had to go that far? If I hadn't... you wouldn't be reading any of this and some of those that are talking to you all friendly like right now here... you're walking on coals my friend. They'll report you just because when they feel like it. They can't read what I'm saying right now because I've blocked them... but look for the silly 95%MHO scores and friendly deminors. Watch out... They have power and they'll do everything I transcribed here.

Here is my suggestions... stop trying to be woke, make pictures available throughout the conversation, and... and seriously I think you've started spending more time on policing content instead of just enjoying the content. How much $$$ does that cost compared to just letting a rampage go on? I feel like this site has probably hemorrhaged money on just trying to police things instead of just letting it go.

In 2024 would you please get rid of the automatically assigned MHO? All it does is make MHO % completely meaningless.

Also, as others have said, please bring back the downvote function. Getting rid of it was a mistake. If you're not going to do that, at least get rid of the menaingless thumbs down icon. It does absoutely nothing except serve as a reminder of your bad decision to remove the downvote function.

How about in 2024 GAG reverses some of the bad decisions it has made over the last couple of years.

I concur with @blueonblack22 on his first point about bringing back emoticon voting on opinions including downvotes? I've been a member here for about 8 years and over that time I've seen GAG make a lot of changes. Very few of those changes actually improved the user experience, and many actually made things worse. But some have been worse than others, and getting rid of the downvote was the worst by far. Really, really, really bad decision.

I also agree with his third point about moderators. I have had MANY of my responses removed over the last year by a moderator only to have them later reinstated by someone with a more level head and less political bias. Every single one of them. They were all similar responses, expressing a particular political view, but not offensive or inflamatory at all. This mod (I have no doubt it was the same one in every case) simply disagreed with my views. It's not acceptable for a moderator to do that, and GAG needs to do a better job controlling its moderators.

By the way, I also agree with the second point @blueonblack22 made, I just know GAG will never do it even though they absolutely should.

My last request of GAG for 2024 is to just stop making "improvements" that are not improvements at all from the users' perspective. If you're going to spend the resources making changes, at least listen to what GAG users have been telling you they care about instead of wasting those resources on things that no one actually cares about, and in fact in many cases actually making GAG worse, not better. Please just stop doing that.

I'm new on here less than a month, and I must say this is one of the most stress free and openly honest and respectful open forum sites I have been part of, everyone is respectful of each other and take believe in what is asked and responded to honestly maturely, I have gains insight into and shit myself from what is discussed here, my short time in this site has been a wonderful and uploading experience a great way to end the year and look forward to a new beginning and a wonderful peaceful new year, and to everyone involved here thank you and be safe out there, and let the new year be one that fulfills your goals bring forth your dreams and bea year if peace and calm to all not only here but around the world, take care and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL ON GAG🥳

2023 was a beautiful wonderful year, I have improved myself very well this year, it was incredible, I have read a lot of books, I have worked hard, I will work harder next year, I have improved my English language, I will improve more next year, I will understand Jesus Christ better, I will become a dark Orthodox Christian, most importantly, I kissed for the first time in 2023, very nice, very excited, so I overcame my curiosity about kissing and met a lot of new people , some of the friends I thought I knew, I actually saw that I didn't know them at all, I found out that they also felt like they spent the night watching the South Park series , I'm going to watch a lot more Netflix movie series, a great year is waiting for me

Does that mean you're going to focus on updates GAG users actually care about instead of making changes YOU decide to make that just make GAG worse? I hope so.

Here are some changes that would actually improve GAG, so I hope you will make them in 2024.

1) Control your moderators. There are some who randomly remove opinions that don't break any rules, but which they personally diagree with. That needs to stop.

2) Bring back the downvote. It should never have been removed.

"AFAB" I picked it because I can answer physical/health questions about the female condition, but I'm having a heck of a time with the "gender-based psychology" questions... which has always been the issue and why I "identify" as non-binary. I am the same, unchanged, unaltered person I've always been.

I have never wanted to "be" male, but people do not "see" me as female in my thoughts, speech or mannerisms, and trying to force me into these female roles, expectations and conformities just exacerbate how much I don't define myself or my role in society by my genitalia. I always thought it was a matter of women's lib. "Why can't I be a drummer/woodworker/motorcyclist/programmer if I want to be? Why does any of this require a dick? Why should I have kids just because I have the equipment? There is nothing that is maternal about me, and I couldn't think of anything more horrible than being saddled with a brood of brats and people who want me to take care of them."

But apparently women's lib doesn't extend to equality of thought, only opportunity. It has been made clear to me by all that I do not "think" like a woman, and that is why I never fit in with them. I can't claim to know the male mind either, because I have not lived as a male, but all my friends have always been male, so I figure I've got a better understanding than most. But I don't feel like I can speak for either side, because I don't FIT either side.
