We know some of you have been waiting for this update we made on Emojis!
We have simplified the emoji buttons for you and now there are only ''like'' and ''dislike'' buttons instead of emojis! No more confusion about the meanings of the old emojis!
So, here are the new buttons that will allow you to express your opinions easily:
Give the new ''like'' and ''dislike'' buttons a try and let us know what you think about them!
This was the burning issue you were working on? No one cared.
HOW ABOUT FIXING THE BUSTED NOTIFICATION SYSTEM, WHICH HAS BEEN ON THE FRITZ FOR MONTHS NOW? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, ALREADY.
Or any of these... List all the GAG programming bugs are you experiencing?
Or this, for example... Why would GAG feature a question that is over a year old?
And to the users of GAG: The reason the downvote count is gone now (I suspect) is so that trolls cannot get their rocks off by gang en masse downvoting / harassing specific users. I doubt it's the reason some of you think, which is due to sensitivity. It's just a workaround for another problem, which they cannot technically resolve. Do I agree? Hell no. Feedback should be a part of social media. Yes, there's going to be harassment, but playing all nicey nicey, shielding people from negativity is not the right decision in my opinion. Youtube made a huge mistake when they implemented this. Doesn't mean others have to follow suit. People don't learn when everything is easy and frictionless. Sometimes criticism hurts, but it results in growth. (But the reason this was put in place is technical, not philosophical, I suspect.)
Far more importantly is when the hell are you going to start taking notice, and act accordingly on the issue of this downright Dictatorship and Censorship that is fast destroying the whole essence of the forum.

I've been a member of the GAG community for years. I've watched GAG make countless "improvements" that resulted in a lower quality experience for users, and this one is no different.
What is the point of a downvote option if no one can see the count? Seriously, what purpose does it serve?
I sometimes imagine GAG's decision making process for updates like this one.
HERE'S a great way to improve this site!! ALERT POTENTIAL POSTERS BEFORE THEY SPEND HALF AN HOUR WRITING A RESPONSE THAT THEY'RE RESPONSE TO A QUESTION WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BECAUSE THEY WERE BLOCKED FROM RESPONDING TO THE PERSON ASKING THE QUESTION!!! WHY IS THIS SO FUCKING HARD?

u I like simply like or dislike better.
A couple of other updates I would like to see are a clarifications and updates of the community guidelines and mods selected by users.

This is my 7500th opinion. A milestone on G@G community. Looking forward for Better and Healthy relationship with G@G Team.
Thank you for creating such a wonderful platform. Everything and Everyone has cons but it's all about how you deal with it. I am glad you people are working hard to make it better place.
Put me down for favoring this much more simplified approach. In part, because it was a bit difficult to ferret out the meanings and applicability of the old emojis.
However, also because the new "thumbs up/thumbs down" is straightforward. No chance of misunderstanding.
Moreover, instead of using the emojis to convey nuance, these will obliged the "voter" to actually write out his/her thinking. That is the real point of this site.
Bottom line, sometimes the simplest approach is the best. That is definitely true in the case of this site. Many thanks!!
I don't care about losing the emojis but... why was the dislike number removed but the icon is still there? What is the point of keeping it when you don't know if anyone has selected that option? Seems redundant.
I don't get why you had to get rid of the emojis, because some people were being trolled. You could just limit the feature (such as keeping someone from downvoting more than x amount in 24 hours or keeping upvote/downvote limited to xper 3 and above for example)
I kind of get the idea of removing the downvote count since some cool people were getting trolled on every answer with numerous, but as we now do not have any idea of how many, if any, downvotes are given is there really any point in retaining that choice at all?
I miss the emojis, especially the funny one. With only Up/Down thumbs, there is no way to say an opinion is funny. Also, it would be good if there was a sideways thumb to indicate "I don't care, one way or the other".
GAG used to have a simple upvote or downvote option with the ability to see who upvoted and downvoted, which was perfect. They went to the ridiculous emojis and took away the ability to see who downvoted, which like most other "improvements" they've made was a downgrade. Now they've gone back to the simple up vote, but took away the downvote altogether.
WTF, GAG. Just when I thought your heads were crammed as far up your asses as possible, you've managed to push them even further. At this point nothing surprises me anymore.
So, let me get this straight...
We are going back to the way things were.

Now bring back age-filtering!
Honestly the previous emoji system was more creative.
To be honest I prefere the previous choice between "agree", "disagree", and "funny".

Also, a downvote button is pointless if it doesn't show the total; at this point just remove the whole thumb down icon
I wish y'all give us the ability to react to replies on opinions as well.
(Also the ability to edit and delete comments, but I know that's probably never gonna happen)
It doesn't make much of a difference in the end really. Just a question though. Why doesn't it show how many down votes a comment has?
Are dislikes even being shown anymore? Go ahead dislike this opinion so I can see if the downvotes appear or not.
I like the facial expressions except for the grumpy disagree. There’s no Funny or Laughing/Yeah, wtf…. in 👍 👎.

Bring back views for dislikes! Like at @xHoneyxBeex said it's pointless to even have the button if you can't see anything.
I still see the emojis... and why do you hide the "disagree" comments, the whole point is to be open.. Why be so "sensitive" to people disagreeing?
That fits well into the 21st century: only ''black-or-white-thinking''
Will we also soon see the removal of the option to drop a comment?
I mean... keep it simple...
I'm so going to win the dislikes... I hope I get a reward for it.
