5 Traits of the Alpha Male

How's it going fellow G@Gers. I've been on this site for a short while and I've noticed the term alpha gets loosely thrown around. So as an alpha male I thought I'd share my take, on what it means to be a real man

Now I've never done anything like this; and my writing skills are mediocre so please be patient with me, as I try to explain from my own life experiences.

I believe there many traits that are used to define an alpha. And I don't necessarily believe you have to be the CEO of your company to be an alpha. Here are my 5 traits to being the best version of yourself.

1. Loyalty/Trust

The first on my list of being a true alpha male is loyalty. I believe the heart of every man is defined by the ability to keep his word. If a man lies or cheats his employer he will not go far. That is why references and work experience speak volume on getting that big boy job you've always wanted

2. Perseverance/Dedication

This might be the best trait on the list. Your ability to continue doing something YOU believe in, is what separates you from the pack. As an alpha male you need to fight for what you believe in. You need to convince others to follow your path, because you believe in it so deeply there is no other way of living. This is exactly what makes a good man great...

3. Good listener

You need to listen! How many times have you been told "you never listen to me" by someone close to you? The respect that have from the people close to you, is the same respect you give them. Its unrealistic to believe people will listen to what you have to say if you don't respect them with your attention.

4. Confidence

You constantly hear me saying confidence is king. I have no skills, I don't have an education. I'm not looking for pity, or anything like that. The only thing I have in my life is confidence. I believe in myself because I know what I've been through. My past might be dim but I know my future is bright because I believe...

5. Be an example (practice what you preach)

Don't ever be the guy who tells their kid not to drink when he polishes a bottle of Jack every weekend. Think of the military (I know you military bruhs will agree) would you follow an officer who doesn't listen to his superiors? You will never be an alpha male if you try to be a boss instead of a leader.

Alpha males are everywhere. Its a very hard thing to become, but I believe it is possible for anyone to learn.

You know I like this Take even though these qualities are not gender specific.

Usually guys who deem themselves Alpha males their definition is big, tall and ability to kick ass, that's their definition of "dominant" hence Alpha Male.

Instead of dominance or superficial to describe Alpha you've focused on core, the characteristics. Anyone can try to acquire these traits regardless of Alpha Male or not, and these aren't just confined to Dating but equally useful in other aspects of life too.

Only thing I would add and hence build upon Confidence is Assertiveness. While Confidence is necessary to be Assertive but it would also be necessary to stand up for yourself or what you believe in. Crucial in dating game as well.

It doesn't matter, these are all just made up social terms. There are plenty of males men who are all of these traits as well as bad traits of other men. They can be all of these things and still not be right for you. I believe that every male has the capacity and ability to become all of these things, but it is up to him wither or not he wants to work on himself to become a better person.

On your topic- I can never understand why so many people feel the need to 'label', rather than just accepting people as they are

I agree I'm not a fan of labels. I always feel a sense of empowerment with calling myself an alpha male tho. I also feel like my definition of it isn't shared with a large portion of the internet community. But there are many who share the same idea

i guess I am being a tad hypocritical for when I was a 'boy' ( a million years ago ) we had labels as well. I guess it helps in forging ones identity or gaining real clarity with it

Most people see the alpha as the frat guy, which is true. But I think there are other types of alphas in the world that make great leaders in their own pack.

Nice mytake ;) Well I think I little bit have alpha and omega in me. I dont simply accept to be leaded by someone else, I have my own ways and its only "me" if someone is going to lead a group, or I am out lol. I Dont talk much like Omegas do I am told being reliable person by other people, I dont follow and I dont obey, I dont like much crowd like some alphas do. I think I am an alpha am I? :D

I don't think so. I think alpha male is just a term, used to define what a man should be. I think it has less to do with a hierarchy, and more with being in tune with our masculinity.

You say it's not to do with hierarchy, but that it's to do with masculinity. It is to do with hierarchy. You can have a group of strong masculine guys, think military for example, but there will always be a guy who is more of a leader than the others, he's the alpha. They aren't all alpha. Now say that guy leaves, gets killed, whatever, one of those guys will then take his place as the alpha. That's what it is.
