It's been scientifically shown that men are visual creatures, so it should be no surprise that men like to look at things, especially pretty things.

But why do men especially like to look at women?

This short myTake explores one of the reasons ... a simple one. Women show more skin.

Below is a picture of an average woman wearing an average outfit, in a dress.

Notice how much skin she is showing.

Now compare that to this picture of an average man, wearing an average outfit, jeans and t-shirt.

Notice how much less skin he is showing, compared to the woman. If he was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, he'd be showing even less skin.

Now ask yourself a simple question ...

Which would you rather look at?

Of course, most people would say the woman ...

And that's why men like to look at women.

I usually agree with what you write, Tom. But this time I have to disagree. Men are more visual because,... wait for it... they are more visual. It has nothing to do with one gender showing more skin.

Think about it. What does it take to get a man "in the mood". Seeing his partner naked. That's ALL. His dick is hard and he's ready to fuck.

What does it take to get a woman in the mood? "If you want to get her in the mood, then you'll need to set the stage. Listen, be patient, and go out of your way to show her how much she matters to you. Above all: remember to focus on HER! With a little luck, you'll both end up..." Well, you know.

In previous periods of history and in some cultures of course today women covered up more, men still liked to look at them to see whatever skin they could. Men find women's skin appealing, women on the other hand aren't aroused by men's skin in quite the same way it seems. They are more aroused by a well dressed guy than a shirtless guy. This is why when women are allowed to dress for themselves they show more skin. While they might not be hoping to attract men (women have many reasons for dressing the way they do), at least men aren't likely to be disgusted by the sight of their skin. On the other hand if a man goes around exposing too much of his body women are likely to find it an unpleasent sight.

I agree with poppy here. I dont necessarily think its skin. It could be movement. Or I would go further, which is maybe true for all genders. The posibility to see "more". More as in things you wouldn't show normally. Pantyhose does cover skin, some even completly. They are still often seen comparatively to a not covered area, because they give the illusion of seeing more.

There's another reason, movement. Women's clothes, hair, jewellery etc all add additional movement, even the way we walk. while men tend to be very still. Movement is attractive to men.

I think it is a good point that we show more skin but, I think that might be an effect instead of a cause. Women or men can look great or not look great with v little skin showing or a lot of skin showing, I think it’s more important for guys to see our body shape than to see skin itself, not that seeing skin is bad but I don’t think it is the number one draw. As for why who knows, I guess the evolution theory I have heard is that it is about deciding if we could bear children and be healthy enough to take care of them or something like that. For the record I prob. look at women as much as I look at men if not more, because women are better looking (sorry it is just that we make more effort which again I think is an effect and not a cause). JMO!

Luckily, I live in a warmer climate where men often wear shorts for running and biking, and just walking around, so I see loads of male leg, and a little butt curve, which I like to look at.

Limiting it only to skin exposure is too simple. Most men are naturally attracted to female forms, especially faces and the curvature of their bodies. Even when showing very little skin women can be very attractive and men will easily notice the swell of the breasts and derriere, the slimness of the waist in contrast to the wideness of the hips, and the femininity of the face. The slighter frames of women is also a factor and long hair is often found to be quite beautiful.

I used to think that too until I started covering up to prevent this but that doesn't really help. Now people are just little less creepy about looking than they were when I showed a lot of skin. 😂

The irony is that most guys - when being honest and open - will say that the more skin a woman shows, the more he wants to look. But they would not want THEIR woman going out in public in very revealing outfits.

Personally, I don't show a lot of skin, but I'll still catch a man looking at me sometimes. If they're bold enough, they'll mutter something under their breath as I pass by.

As a lifelong single guy I had a female friend take pity on me. She took off her top and just let me stare at her breasts. She's married now with a husband and two kids. I never told her how much she changed my life but I wish I had.

Very true, we are just biology wired to look at women regardless if they show shin or not. Though showing skin definitely catches more attention.
