Do guys get uncomfortable if they know a girl likes them and don't feel the same way?

Is it normal for guys to get a little uncomfortable around a girl if they know she likes him?

I made my interest in my crush ridiculously obvious but not in a forward way- I showed interest by getting really shy.

When I got more comfortable I would initiate conversation normally and casually but he would seem a little nervous or a bit awkward at least.

He would avoid eye contact a little and continue the conversation but a little awkwardly.

I never got a vibe he didn't like me as a person though because he would smile at me (a little awkwardly but still).

He isn't like this with other people. He's not shy. I would say he is a little awkward though and not very social.

I wasn't creepy about showing interest- I would just casually approach him and initiate conversation.

Did I make him uncomfortable?

Yes. We wouldn't know how to act in your presence.

Liking someone is an intimate relationship. But it is so at odds at what the actual relationship is, which is... just acquaintances.

Anyone would get uncomfortable under such conditions.

You don't know if he doesn't like you. This feeling of not knowing how to act, it happens regardless whether he likes you or not. This awkward feeling happens only because there is a mismatch of reality.

Maybe try to find chances to interact with him as strangers - introduce yourself or something casual, and try not to do anything out of the ordinary.

But to answer your question, are you uncomfortable around a guy when you know they like you but you don't feel the same way? Yeah, it's kind of like that.

I got nervous around him and very shy. Blushing, smiling a lot, giggling, awkward silences, etc. I think if a girl acts like that around a guy she makes her interest obvious without meaning to

I have also been around guys I knew liked me and I don't feel uncomfortable to the point where I avoid eye contact or any of that. I talk normally to them and I'm polite but I limit the conversation so they don't get the wrong idea. But maybe I'm an exception.

I would only avoid eye contact if the guy was seriously creeping me out and I really hope I did not do that. I would just initiate a casual conversation when I would run into him, like two or three times a month.

I don't know I hate the idea of making someone feel uncomfortable or creeping someone out :/

I guess I read this as "I started acting like a potted plant in the hopes that he would notice me"; this seems to be a common strategy used by girls, and expects guys to be mind readers. And in all honesty, guys don't notice potted plants very much (do you?). However, if you've been initiating conversations with him, he probably suspects that you like him. If you haven't been initiating conversations with him, start doing it more often. Also, he will never ask you out if there are other people involved in the conversation, so if you want to go out with him, catch him alone at some point (I'm not saying you have to ensure there are no other people around, just no other people involved in the conversation, if that makes sense).

Lol no I'm definitely not a potted plant. I'm pretty sure he knows I like him but I just hope I didn't creep him out. This was my first time approaching a guy I liked (I'm really shy so it's hard for me) and it makes me feel bad to think I made him feel creeped out just by casually showing some interest

I already knew it was difficult which is why a lot of guys don't/can't do it.

How can I pick up if my approaching is going well? His behavior made me think he liked me but was shy. I asked some questions on here when all this was going on and basically everyone thought he liked me but was shy. They also told me I shouldn't take avoiding eye contact as lack of interest from this guy.

I guess all that confused me and made me think I was fine. He isn't shy but he is awkward with girls he is into.. He doesn't approach girls or any of that. All that and how he would smile a lot and continue the convo for a decent amount of time made me think I was fine..

I guess I'm asking how can I differentiate between a shy guy and not interested guy? He really confused me

Hmmm... That's a tricky one. You know, if you just straight up asked him (but not in front of other people), he'd tell you. Just say, "You know Bob, I kind of like you and have been trying to flirt with you, but I'm having trouble telling if you like me too." If he likes you, he'll jump at the opportunity to say he likes you too (the shyest of guys will let you know on that one). If he doesn't like you that way, you'll be able to pick up on it too. Since it sounds like you already know the guy, it wouldn't be as awkward as asking a stranger (don't ever do that, lol).

Yeah you made things awkward and need to back off for sure. People pick up on this type of stuff for sure. Give him some space cause he is most likely feeling really suffocated at this point.

I really don't think I over did it though. I would initiate a short convo maybe two or three times a month when I would see him, sometimes literally just saying hi and smiling.

I hope I didn't suffocate him! I just thought what I was doing was fine because he would smile a lot when we would talk and he flirted a little also in the beginning
