Why do guys hate talking on the phone?

My boyfriend seems to hate talking on the phone although he's fine with meeting up in person. Why is this?

i hate it too. men use the phone to communicate important stuff at hand..5 mins its done. But mine of 5yrs, whom i love more than anything else, its like she makes a snack, take the magazine i bought her 2 days ago, sits comfortably in a couch or bed and then call me and start telling me about the colors she wants for her wedding dress, the beautiful houses she is seeing in the magazine, her colleague's new couches and curtains, plans for her auntie's boy's 5th birthday 3 months ahead, not forgetting the other lady from the grocery store who gave her an attitude earlier that day and so on. Now me on the other end I am very busy..watching the game with buddies, watching a few videos on youtube, resting with absolutely nothing on my mind, driving, or just lazy to do anything in the house and my sweet girl is just the last thing on my mind that time. Then 5 mins into the call I'm like , "... And dont worry much about anything babe we will make it. Now i just miss you so much I jus wish you were here... Anyway, we will talk properly when I come see you next weekend" and she is like there u go again, boys!, you never get them to talk. At least she laughs at it. Then she continues and i just find myself on the lower end of the stream of words and im just like "umh...yah...uhm...yah", to which sometime along the way she asks me to repeat what she just said. Then it goes for 1hr.
Guys, yes including good guys, just love fun,..on the other hand chicks just take life seriously, they love to plan, even on the small things, every time. So wen they are not with you, they want to make sure the plans are in your head all the time and everything that happened, which guys hate.
I mean who thinks about a wedding 2 years ahead? What I am jus thinking now is how i can make more money and other important stuff. And if you can jus come over and we barbeque a bit together then watch the game, then later you take a shower with me, thats great stuff not talking 2hrs on the phone.

The phone is not designed for extended conversations. It's designed to schedule a place/time to have extended conversations.

It a social thing, not saying he's not social but I've been raised on being able just text or type to people whenever I want and the other person can reply when ever they are not busy instead of calling people and hoping they are there or not busy so I find it weird and sometimes uncomfortable talking on the phone, I'd prefer texting or talking on person. But it just depends on how they were raised to communicate with people.

I prefer texting because talking on the phone takes too long, and I have to sit there with a phone to my ear. E.g. my girlfriend rang me while I was at the gym which annoyed me because others were waiting to use the bench I was using and l was in the middle of my workout. At least with a text I can send it then get on with.whatever I'm doing.

For me the phone feels more like a distraction than a conversation. I like to be able to see the person I am talking to. Even in texting, at least I can see the words. Over the phone there is nothing but a voice in my ear. I find that very annoying for long periods.

Because most are dumb and not mature and they just think about sex and when your on the phone thats not going to happen

I prefer to talk on the phone than texting, I hate the miscommunication that often happens in texting
