If a guy forgets your birthday is this a deal breaker?

I already knows he's a jerk but this was just lower than low! Thought we could remain friends. This guy I have been casually dating for 6 months flat out forgot my birthday today. We have known each other a year, talk often, go on dates, etc. I always get a text on holidays but today nothing. He had time to post on Facebook though which tells me that he doesn't care and doesn't consider me a priority.

I'm really hurt and torn but I know he doesn't care
So no point in even giving him space in my head or saying anything.

He knows how important my birthday was to me and he decided to go away this week
Instead of doing something for my birthday.

Question here is: next time he texts me do I ignore him
Or call him out on his lack of caring? He will just lie to me, so
I think I should just move on, ignore him and say nothing.

He will get the picture.

He apologized and said he was traveling for work and bla bla bla. (That's all I hear because it's always a damn work excuse) then wishes me a happy belated. I know it's bs but he's not my boyfriend so all I'm saying is thanks.

Did you tell him that your birthday is coming up or did you just expect him to remember? Some people are just bad with dates. I, for example, forget all your anniversaries, birthdays of our dogs (which is same as forgetting your kids birthdays!)... I even struggle to remember my husband's birthday. But it doesn't mean that I don't care :)

So if you reminded him and he ignored... that's bad.
If you expected him to remember, and he didn't... that's OK. Next time try reminding him in advance?

Did he react in anyway about forgetting your birthday? Does he know that he forgot? Or is he just ignorant about the fact?

He knew it was. When he told me he was going away which was only a week before I said your not going to be here for my birthday? So he knew. And the entire month kept asking if I'm excited about my birthday. I am just shocked really. He always texts me on holidays even when he was out of the country. I'm going to let him know he forgot and then I will not reply to any of his texts.

Yes just need to hear it I guess. Just wondering if I need to be passive aggressive or say something when he gets in touch? I mean he will lie, give excuses and I will look crazy because I'm not even his girlfriend.

Don't react; set the agenda. What do you want? What kinda guy do you want? He's clearly not what you want, so stay in your space, in your own energy, some of my new-agey friends would say, and act from there.

Tell him you're not into his shit and it makes you feel like. Then go about your day.

His shit as in what? Sorry I don't want to say the wrong thing. If I say something for forgetting then he will think he for to me, and if I don't I will condone his behavior. Or perhaps just toss his aside say I'm tired of his mind games and be done.
