He asked me out for coffee - does this mean he's interested in me?

I've known this guy for a year and a couple of months now, and we've been good friends. Some time after we met I broke up with my bf of the time and was feeling low and I could see that he was trying to get closer. He wanted us to start going out and "see where it goes" but I told him straight away that I wasn't able to see anyone at the time as I was still recovering.

I thought he had forgotten all those intentions he previously had and for some time we continued talking normally and saw eachother sometimes but only as friends. Lately we've been talking more - merely as friends - and yesterday he asked me out for coffee. I initially said yes, because I do like him (as a friend), but then I started wondering whether he could have any second intentions.

I don't want to date him but I do like hanging out with him. I'm just afraid he might want more of me and feel for me something that I don't reciprocate at all. We've been down this road once and I thought everything was clear but I guess not.

What do you guys think?

Go to the cofee, but at the end you must follow these :

if you DO NOT want him as a Boyfriend, ASK HIM IF HE WISHED, then if he say yes, leave him and break contact with him. if he say yes and you do NOT want, he is in a torture position at the moment and best would be to break any contact with him.

THAT IS HOW you deal PROPERLY with friendzone.

Asking him even if you do not want him as a boyfriend is the greatest respect you can show to any men and a maturtity act. Do not do it for you, do it for him.

He may be still interested in you, but it's one of those things that you have to remind yourself that when you give an answer to a question it's for that particular point in time. Situations and feeling may change over time (as in your case), but for others like him (and myself) I run for the duration of a marathon, not a 5k or a sprint. Go for coffee and see where things lead, you may find yourself opening to the idea of dating him, you may not. Just remember to always be honest with yourself and with him.
