How come shy guys never ask women out?

I have talked to a lot of shy guys, these are some good guys who could offer a lot to a woman. But none of these guys will ask a woman out. Some flat out refuse to do it. Some even told me "We know women will say no, so we don't even bother with women at all." I find that sad that these guys won't even try because they're good guys and very pleasant to be around. I told them not every woman will say no, but they don't believe me. How do these guys just give up without trying?

Whether its a shy girl or guy, shy people (like myself) are afraid of rejection and even when people say "move on" or "suck it up and just do it" a lot of us are really insecure or had some kind of bad experience from expressing our true emotions. For me, I confessed to a guy I really liked (was one of my best friends) and he turned me down saying he loved me like a sister, followed by him having a crush on my best female friend and after that he started to distance himself from me so I lost my best guy friend over it. Ever since then, I've never been able to make the first move and I fear that most nice guys are always friendzoning me and treating me like a little sister instead of a romantic interest and expressing my feelings would only scare them away.

The best thing we girls can do for a shy guy is compliment him and make him feel special. Be obvious that we like them and want to get to know them - even on a deeper level - they feel they have nothing to lose. They need patience and sometimes you need to take it slower as being to forward with a shy guy can also freak him out. But the more you talk to them, the more comfortable they get.

Sometimes you are your own worst enemy. In cases with shy guys, they tend to be a bit insecure and doubt themselves too much to a point where they just don't see a point in even trying.

Though I'm not a guy, (despite how much my username sounds like a transvestite) so I could be wrong.

i think that bc of the fact that they are not very confident they think that girls won't like them cuz they like the confident type... but thats wrong cuz there are a lot of girls that like the shy type as well as the confident one.. maybe it has to do with low self esteem as well:)

Because women universally dig confidence, and shy guys don't have it.

The main issue that a lot of shy guys have is that they don't think they're attractive. They don't have the physical appearance to be sexy, the charisma to be charming, and a lot of them have interests that are well known for being made fun of by people, like anime or video games. They may be great people, but even if they did get it together and score a date, what would they say? What would they do?

As the saying goes, success breeds confidence. Most of these guys have never had success with girls: those who have attempted to get girls have been met with failure, and others never got enough attention from girls to bother trying. They never succeed, they never gain confidence, and the downward spiral continues. For that same reason, in the event some of these guys do manage to get a girl, they have a tendency to socially flourish.

I am a shy guy. I am 23 and a virgin. I have always tried to muster up the courage to ask women out. When I do, I always get rejected... or the woman will always say they like me only as a friend -_-. It gets tiring to hear, so I don't talk to women anymore. I just focus on myself and my finances.

I know that I will be a good bf, it's something that I just know I will, but I'm shy, and because of that I've been single for more than 4 years.
Our problem is lack of confidence. We usually think that we are less than others, we start over thinking, and we end up giving up.

Easy. No matter how great you are there's always a guy that has all of those things and more (more money, looks better, better personality, etc). So why bother? It's much smarter to just focus on oneself and how to make a good living.

As a shy guy, I find it hard to approach girls because I overthink to much and give up straight away without even trying. The only thing stopping us from approaching girls is ourselves.
