Personal email etiquette - when a guy emails you late at night?

It's the first time he wrote me email an email late at night. The content is just to thank me and wish me a Merry Christmas.

Does that mean he feels more comfortable with me as a friend now? When I asked about his holiday plans with his girlfriend he responded I am going to do such and such which I'm sure he meant "we" as in him and his girlfriend

I would email late at night as that's the time when I'm least busy.

Ok, email is to be read at your leisure and when you have time. A person whether interested in you or not will send when they don't need a reply the very instant they send it. Stop overthinking.

I view text the same way. If it's a phone call and text, then it's something needs to be talked about right away.
