God is the only school of thought that teaches a man to be faithful and God is illegal in the USA. When you have a culture to say that being unfaithful is freedom of choice. In some countries that choice is punished with death. In the military it can be a crime falling under Article 134. Patraous the head guy in the military lost his comission for cheating. Man is taught it is ok and women reward a man who cheats.
Simple your boyfriend is a jerk. Men who want to cheat will cheat and they would do it even if they were dating Aphrodite the Goddess. It isn't a matter of how beautiful or intelligent the women are who they are dating.
I don't condone this behavior but when you really give it thought... i'd say its mainly because the S/O eventually begins to slob off and getting too comfortable and begin to loose what at first sparked that reaction. Therefore, the attraction begins to fade.
Your question should not be "Why do men cheat on their girlfriends?", your question should be "Why the fuck am I still tolerating a cheating scum?"

Same reason women do... because they think they can get away with it
People who cheat are unsatisfied within the relationship. They do it as a way out.
