Do men even have feelings?

I was seeing a guy briefly who chased me despite knowing I was looking for a long term relationship whereas he made it clear he wasn't.
We met through mutual friends, started talking as friends initially and found we got on really well, I told him I didn't want anything to happen as I knew I'd just end up getting hurt and he basically said whatever he needed to - things like 'I won't hurt you, I respect you, I won't see other girls'. I gave it a chance because he implied maybe I'd be able to change his mind - I wasn't expecting miracles but thought there was potential.
In the end, after a few weeks we had a conversation and whilst he said he enjoyed spending time with me he made it clear he still wasn't interested in anything serious (and might never be) so I said fine, let's call it a day. I'm so upset with things not working out and naturally I miss him but haven't contacted him. I wish he showed some disappointment too or does he not care at all?
