Why do nice guys make me uncomfortable?

it seems like the only guys interested in me are the extremely nice emotional wonder boys.

The kind of guys who call me to make sure I get home OK or pay for my taxi.text in the morning to say "I hope you slept well". that notice when I'm even just a little upset. say I look pretty when I'm in sweats and a tee shirt.-my friends are always jealous because really nice guys are always asking me out. and I'm always saying no because for some reason they make me uncomfortable.

my best friend says I need to get over it but I don't know how.

Here's my theory:

One of the main reasons that women avoid nice guys is that these women are afraid of intimacy.

To avoid true intimacy with a caring person, these women instead chose to date guys who are slightly abusive, emotionally distant, hung up on an ex, or otherwise not good partners for a healthy relationship.

By dating these guys, the women are deliberately evading intimacy, and also giving themselves a way to explain that the problem isn't her fault: "He's such a jerk. He never answers my calls and I think he's talking to his ex again..."

(This theory also applies to guys who date women who are nothing but trouble, by the way.)

Fear of intimacy is almost always a fear of exposing something about yourself that you believe is ugly or unpleasant and might lead to an unpleasant response (rejection, abandonment, blame, etc.)

You now must ask yourself a very difficult question:

What about yourself are you afraid to expose to someone who cares about you?

Guys like that make me uncomfortable because I doubt their sincerity. I'm used to seeing so many jerks that when a guy is being nice it makes me think he has ulterior motives. Like what does he REALLY want? Why is he being so nice? And then I think that if I fall for him he'll pull the rug from underneath me and show his jerk colors and then I'll get hurt. We're kind of conditioned to think that all men want is sex and most guys are jerks, so if a guy acts really nice you think he's manipulative and fake. Personally if a guy is gonna want me for sex I'd rather him be upfront about it then pretending to be some sweetheart.
