How come my boyfriend has not asked me to prom yet?

I'm a senior and my prom is on April 18th. I have a dress and my boyfriend has his tux and we already have prom tickets. The only thing missing is him asking me to prom. I tell him every now and then when is he going to ask me to prom and he kind of just smiles about it. I don't understand why he hasn't asked yet, but then we're already going together so does that mean that he feels like he doesn't need to ask.? And I don't want to be the one to say you need to ask me to prom like today. You know.? I would prefer for him to ask by himself without me having to say so. So how come my boyfriend hasn't asked me to prom yet.? Please share any thoughts on this topic. I would like to read what the guys and girls think about this!

I get that we're already dating and that already means that we'll be going to prom together. But it's probably one of the simplest and most easiest thing to do to put a smile on a girl's face. But guys probably don't get that? Although I would have to say that we've talked about prom since January and it gets me a little upset because at one point in time he did say he would ask so it makes me feel like he forget or I'm probably just being really overdramatic about something so small..

He probably just assumes you two will be going together. Not many guys realize that they should probably still ask and do the whole "promposal" thing, which was huge at my school. The guys treated them as a competition to see who had the best promposal. My best friend had me talk to her boyfriend about it because he was taking forever. Turns out he wasn't planning on doing a promposal at all, he just assumed that they were going together because they were dating. He was right, but he didn't think that it meant he still had to do the promposal. I ended up convincing him that it was pretty much mandatory and that it would make his girlfriend so happy, so I got to help plan what he did, it was so cool and she loved it so much :).

Maybe he's planning an elaborate way of asking you. Also, you guys are already dating. It's kind of a given that you two are going together.

Since you guys are dating its kind of something that goes without saying. He was probably smiling because he thought it was funny that you were so stressed about and wanted him to ask you. I know i would think it was funny. But me being the person i am would probably get down on one knee and present you with a candy ring while asking you to prom just to screw with ya. 😝

I don't understand the point of asking, maybe it's just me. The whole point is showing that he has interest in you and the risk of rejection. Both of those are kind of taken out of the equation if you guys are already a couple.

Why should he ask you? As guys, if you want him go, then you will ask him. If not, he won't ask. He gave the decision to you.

I guess he assumes that since you're his girlfriend you'll go together without him needing to ask.

He could be waiting for the right time to ask like some guys like making a cute way to ask a girl so he might just be waiting for the perfect time
