Because usually when I'm sitting and studying with him, he's all attentive and protective-like.

But a few days before, he was more awkwardish.

He always laughs when I do 'cute' things, so it made me wonder if he is fond of me.

However, when my leg accidentally touched his, (I was wearing tights), he moved his leg away. I didn't feel anything lol I barely even noticed.

It seemed to affect him more than it did me lol, I muttered a sorry and went back to studying. Plus I noticed that when I looked him in the eyes he'd sort of look away.

Not necessarily. It also depends on how fast he did it and the rest of his body language.
If you touched his leg, he may have become excited and impulsively jerked his leg back due to adrenaline rushes. Or he may just not like being touched. Also, if you're like me and always get cold in the legs, maybe your leg felt cold against his.
There are infinite possibilities for this situation.

if a girl im not into brushed her leg up against mine I would just move it slightly towards me in a lazy way. im not gonna jerk it away and avoid eye contact, I don't give a fuck lol.
