Can a guy lie about liking someone else?

This guy in my homeroom class show obvious signs he liked me such as staring at me trying to get close, he called me beautiful he said on a website for asking questions he never liked me but liked this other "popular" girl she's really mean by the way could he be lying or

If he told you directly that he didn't like you, like straight up said "I don't like you" then he probably isn't lying. Unless you are in high school or something. If he didn't say he doesn't like you, he could be talking about you.

I'm not trying to be rude to this girl is the only reason she is liked is beacause of her butt other then that I don't like her she is really rude to my friends hardly anyone likes her because of the things she's done such as bullying anonymously saying that she has a better body then every other girl giving hate to her own friends.

Yeah, my friend always talks about how girls always have struggles with each other. I know how girls hate each other sometimes. I'd just ignore him and her, if he likes a girl because of the way she looks; he's got something coming at him. You'll find someone better.
