Guys, why does my crush stare at me but ignore my text?

Okay so me and my crush were writing exam, and he sat diagonally behind me, his friend sat behind me and he kicked my chair repeatedly, so my crush laughed at his friend and when we were done writing I saw him looking at me now and then, so the other day we wrote physics together and he sat next to me so whe we were done writing and he stared at me now and then again, so I texted him a "hi" and he igored it and then 3 days or so later I texted him "hi" again and he ignored e again, so I asked him politely why he ignored me and he said "its just that I'm busy with exam you know" with a smiley emoji, before the exam we were in physics class and I caught him staring at me with a slight smile... so I was just wondering if he also has a crush on me... thanks*
