Why would a guy stay up late just to talk to me?

My friends brother came home around 2 in the morning while I was at their house for the night but instead of just going to bed cuz he had to get up at 6 in the morning the next day for something instead he just stayed up to talk to me about all kinds of random stuff and started wondering around in their kitchen. He wasn't about to go to bed it was almost 3 until I just randomly said good nite & he said good nite & then he left. He is really shy guy according to his family but he gives he hugs all the time. Does this mean anything? Why would a guy stay up late just to talk with me?

I guess we didn't talk that long but it felt like it & his sister was there with me I just didn't understand why he kept wandering around talking to us instead of just going to bed. I mean do guys usually stay up late to talk to their sister and friends?
