What if his friends say he likes me, but he denies it?

So there's homecoming coming up at my school and I like this guy, but i'm not sure if he likes me back. I have one class with him and the same lunch period. He kind of flirts with other girls but sometimes I feel like he treats me differently. Whenever we see each other he always waves and says hi while smiling. He has called me names before, put his elbow on my shoulder and other teasing things. The other day during lunch, his friend asked me to homecoming for him, but I didn't give an answer because I wanted him to ask me for himself. He had been talking to my friend so after lunch I asked her about it and she told me he likes me back (or at least she and his friend thinks he does) but when they told him to ask me out, he denied it a little but didn't totally dismiss the idea. Someone please help me I am so confused.

It is natural to be nervous, but you have to get over it sometime. You could also try to be inviting and flirty and use your womanly wiles to see if you can coax it out of him; but if that doesn't work, asking him will settle the matter.
