What's the deal with shy guys?

I have this friend who I have a crush on but right now I'm just trying to get to know him better and just be his friend. But every time we try to hang out with each other he totally flakes. And his excuses are totally lame. I normally just tell him he's lame and let it go because I can be shy too and I know how nervous you get when your around someone you have a crush on. I also don't see how giving him a hard time is ever going to get him to get comfortable with me if we EVER hang out. So with him flaking like he does, does that mean he is just not that into me and doesn't really even want to be my friend or he is just super shy? We talk all the time and text a lot.

Ok first of all I just went through the same thing with my friend Josh. He is really shy and I finally hinted that I kinda had a crush on him. I mistook shyness for snobiness. e ended up being really snobby he is quiet but I would compliment him nd he would just eat it up like I told him that he is handsome and he simply said I know and another time I said that he probably has really good grades and he said somethiing along the lines of that he is so smart that he never has to ask any questions. Lets just say that it was a huge waste of y time and I wouldn't want anyone else to waste their time on someone like that. YOur guy might be different but if I were you I would want hguy with enough courage and balls to approach me on his own and if he doesn't or isn't bold enough than he probably isn't ready for a relationship to begin with. weelll! with me, there was this guy that I really liked, but didn't tell him. He and I texted allll the time. He asked to hang out and of corse I said yes. But as soon as the day would come around, I would get all scared and "flake" so he's just probably nervous and really likes you :)

Ok, guys hate being shy. We hate it! We can't help it, for example: you just got done talking to him and he is still being all shy and nervous and after you guys are done talking he will go home and yell at himself for it and call himself names for doin that. (bein shy) so I would ask him about why he is shy and bein nervous. Bring up the topic it will help him feel relaxed.

I actually disagree with the other guys. If he's EXTREMELY shy, to a pathological degree, he may avoid you even though he likes you. There is such a thing.

I guess I have to agree with he other guys who posted here. I am a very shy guy, and if a girl told me she wanted to hang out with me, I would give up everything I'm doing to hang out with here (especially if I had a crush on her).

On the other hand, don't be too quick to judge him. I know some guys are just really shy around girls. They are worried they won't know what to do or say to impress them, or they just lack experience.
