Why does he ignore me when he sees me?

I matched with this guy on tinder a month ago and we talk every day. he works in my college and is only a few years older than me. Anytime i see him he puts his head down and acts like he never even saw me! Like, today i was in the canteen getting a drink and he was waiting right behind the cashier on his food and as soon as he saw me he looked down at his phone and whilst i was paying i could see him looking at me out of the corner of my eye.
why does he do this?

Cause he's hesitant and unsure where to start. Probably didn't want to get teased by his friends he sorta sounds like the quiet type like me!

Ps: thats not a bad thing it just means he's sensitive and most of all caring and the fact he may have been trying to save both of you from the awkward friend/fellow employee comments. Or he's afraid you might call him out for awkwardly staring or something as well it could be he has trust issues which is also a common quiet or shy person trait.

It could be many things , he could be for instance embarrassed that he has tinder and doesn't want people to know. He could like you and wants to hide it , perhaps also he has a girlfriend
do you still talk on tinder though? He ever asked you to meet up in person? see if he really likes you
