She says everything is fine but I know it's not. What do I do?

OK so I asked my female friend how she was doing and she said fine. I knew she wasn't fine, because her eyes were red and it look like she was crying earlier. I tried comforting her and she seem to be a little bit more cheered up but did I do the right think. should I have asked her if she was crying? for future knowledge is it OK for a guy friend, NOT BOYFRIEND, to ask a female friend "have you been crying?" just want to know if I did the right thing?

There isn't really much you can do when someone doesn't want to tell you if something is wrong. The only thing you can do is tell the person that if something is wrong, you're more than willing and happy to talk with them about it if and when they want to, and just be the type of friend they can feel comfortable doing such a thing with. As far as mentioning she looked like she was crying, it might be a bit of a bummer to a woman if you were to say something like that when she had not been crying, maybe she just woke up and hand't got much sleep or something. That's almost as bad as asking a fat girl when the baby is due o.O

As far as friend vs boyfriend responsibility, it's appropriate for you to show you care about your friends and to let them know you're there for them, that isn't soley a 'boyfriend's job'

yea you can ask a female friend if she's been cryin, a few of my male friends ask me if I been cryin if it looks like it lol. But I'm a girl so I kno if she looked like sumn was wrong and said she was fine...she wasn't lol sumthin was wrong because that's wut we do lol we say were fine but really not

And you did do the right thing, because girls don't want to be nagged at if something is wrong. If she wants to tell you she wil, but let her get over her problem before she does.
