What does it mean when a guy accepts your friend request on Facebook in good timing, accepts your follow request on Instagram, follows you back, but?

There's a guy that I had known since Kindergarten. We went to school together from Kindergarten through 6th grade until I left the city without any warning and I was forced to. And last week I thought about him and I really wanted to reconnect. So I looked him up on Facebook, found him and at first I just sent him a message saying "Hi. Do you remember me?" And I left it at that. He got the message right away but no response. The next day I sent him a short reminder message saying it was 8,9 years ago but he hasn't even looked at that. And I sent him a picture of me when I was in 5th grade to help him remember me in case he didn't but he hasn't looked at that message either. And then the next day (Saturday) I thought "oh it wouldn't hurt to try. It can't hurt to try to send him a friend request to see what happens" so I sent him a friend request and within a few hours he accepted it. So I have him on Facebook now. And later that day I tried seeing if he had an Instagram which he does and I sent him a follow request, he accepted it and immediately requested to follow me back along with that. So I'm friends with him on Facebook and we're following each other on Instagram, but he hasn't even looked at my other Facebook messages. I'm kinda confused. Any advice would be appreciated. P. S. I know I shouldn't send him any more messages if he's not even looking at my messages, or he isn't responding so I'm not gonna bombard him with a ton of messages.

it could be that he doesn't want to have a close connection with you at the moment. He might be comfortable just being followers/facebook friends... he just isn't comfortable rekindling old flames, maybe because you were never close friends with him, or simply don't have the desire to.

I'd suggest not to do anything more, and expect nothing from him either. The less desperate you seem, the more valuable you are.

So get on with your life, show him you have one by posting pictures with your friends and let guys chase you for a change;)

Low key he's probably only doing it for the follows that's why because if he doesn't answer then he probably doesn't care
