Why do guys want nudes so bad?

There is tons of nudity online for guys to easily get so why do they repeatedly ask girls they know for nude pictures?

No definitive answer can be given since this depends on the guy and what kind of person he is as the major factor, and other minor factors such as the nature or stage of his relationship aith the girl.
Having said this, I will share some examples.
1 - A guy can ask for nudes for the ego boost that he will get from it. "She posed naked for ME"
2 - A guy can ask for nudes so that he will run to his buddies and share and brag. "Look at me, I got game I am awesome"
3 - A guy can ask for nudes to feel somehow closer and more intimate with the girl. Nudes are very personal, and when the guy gets one he will feel as if he leveled up on the intimacy levels with the girl since she shared such a personal pic with him.
4 - A guy can ask for nudes because he is very skeptical and wants to see if the girl is "real"
5 - A guy can ask for nudes because he wants to see if the girl is as hot when she is nude as when she is clothed. Some men rely on techniques such as taking the girl to the beach, while others want to see more detail that only nudes can provide. "Sure she is hot, but what if she has disgusting nipples"
6 - A guy can ask for nudes to enjoy a better masturbation session using them. He gets more pleasure than masturbating over a total stranger with 0 connection with him.
7 - A guy can ask for nudes just out of playful fun and nothing more.
8 - A guy can ask for nudes as his primitive/shallow way of testing the girl to see if she is uptight or not.
Etc etc...
There are many more reasons or even combination of reasons, all depending mainly on the guy and on other factors.

I've never been the type to ask for these (never did) but I can see the appeal.

It *personifies* the image. It makes her more than just some naked body or some girl doing it to get paid. She's the real deal, a person with emotions and a personality who shared this intimate side of herself specifically with you.

It's a little closer to reality while porn is pure fantasy.

As a married guy, I'd somewhat consider it cheating if I talked a lot to a girl and asked her for nudes. I don't consider it with pornography since that's just pure fantasy, there's no emotional investment, and the girls in those cases are absolutely meaningless to me: just some tits and ass to get the demons out of my system and let me go on with the day.

That's the thing - there's so much of it that getting it takes no effort. They want to exert effort and they want it to pay off. I used to think like you, that there's no point since there's porn everywhere.
Until I got my first nudes. Now I see the whole process as fun, even if I don't get any in the end, I will have at least had fun and teased a girl - which in and of itself makes me feel better for the rest of the day. It's not about the nudes itself but the satisfaction of getting something from either a random stranger or someone you know. At the end of the day, it's all about the ego and knowing what kind of appeal you have with the opposite gender and what they are willing to do and give to you

Most guys are also horny daily. But, having said that I would never ask a woman to send me them (if she did willingly on her own that's her decision).
