Why do guys stare, but don't look away?

This guy in class stares at me but doesn't look away when I catch him. And when he isn't staring at me, his head is just resting on his hands and his eyes look 'open'. More than usual at least. What does this mean?

Well, when I do catch him looking, he doesn't smile or anything. He just stares straight into my eyes. He doesn't even look away.

He is admiring you. It means that he likes you and he can't take his eyes off of you. I thought that it was just guys being creepy until I felt it myself recently. With my I had to force my eyes to look away from her. If I stopped thinking about it my eyes would go right back to her. With him being so young I doubt that he can even control it. I know that I had a hard time controlling my eyes and I'm 23.
Try going over to him and saying hi.

Maybe he just zones out and just stares in your general direction? I mean do the two of you sit in the same seats every day? The place you're sitting could just be the place he stares at to zone off. He could just be staring off into space and you just happen to be in his line of sight.

Yeah, pretty much. His eyes are actually kinda wider when he does stare. Like sometime SHE he looks surprised. Or something similar to that.

But he doesn't even smile when I catch him looking. He doesn't do ANYTHING. Like he just continues to stare.

That is a bit weird but clearly something is going through his head... or maybe nothing at all
