Guys, What does it mean when a group of guys go quiet when you walk past?

This happens quite often and it makes me feel really awkward. They could be talking loudly and then go completely silent. It happens even if I'm wearing a jacket and jeans so I don't think they're checking me out. Am I looking too much into it? It just makes me so self-conscious.

They are speaking about something private and they don’t want you to overhear their conversation. Sometimes it really is just that simple as to why a group of males is doing something or acting in a certain way. You are perhaps reading too much into what you’re thinking or feeling in regards to how they are behaving around you and it could be it is just you specifically they don’t want you to know what their business is, and therefore you should NOT feel awkward about it, but go about your business and ignore them. They could all be totally immature and just don’t want you “in the know” of what their discussing, and if that’s the case---So what. Do your own thing and don’t worry about what they’re doing. Don’t allow it to affect you or make you feel as if something is wrong. Be bold and be strong, and be your own woman, your own person. That’s my bottom line.

Your age says your under 18 so I am guessing your in middle/high school, so I'm assuming this happens at school. The guys are probably talking about girls and sex and they don't want girls hearing them talk about it, I doubt it's you specifically. Or their talking about nerdy stuff and they don't want girls thinking of them as geeky. Or if they're young they might be shy and not have learned how to talk and act around girls (young guys who are still awkward with girls) I wouldn't read very much into it
