Why does he look scared when he sees me?

There is this guy who I've spoken to a few times, he's in my year and I've whenever he sees me unexpectedly, especially when he hasn't seen me for a long time, he gets caught off guard and jumps a little and his facial expression changes and he looks a little startled/scared. It looks like the typical deer in the headlights look.

Today he was standing near the door and I walked in and he jumped a little and kinda froze on the spot and didn't know where to walk.

Another time he was sitting in the waiting room and I walked in and he jumped up as soon as he saw me and looked shocked

This always happens when he sees me most time about 99% of the time. I'm not creepy looking or anything but this has been going on for a while.
