I hugged a guy and he froze in place?

So i am friends with this guy at my school and so went it was time to leave i went up to him and I Said" Bye John" and then he said "are you gonna leave now now? " and then i hugged him and he just froze in place. Then i said "Im just being a nice person" and he was still frozen in place. I Like him very much and we also stare into eachothers eyes and help eachother with work. I told my friend about this and she just said "maybe he's not used to it " my BFF knows i LOVE HIM. so what do you think is your opinon?

He prob doesn't have a lot of experience or interact with women such as hugging/holding hands or what not so he sounds like a fresh plate/very innocent. You prob just surprised him/caught him off guard/ in his head its like "OMG SHE HUGGED ME WHAT DO I DO?" and what not

Ve given my guys friends hugs, not all the time, but when we are in the "bro mode"
