Poll: why do guys flirt with me when I put less effort into my looks?

Yo! So I thought I was pretty good looking woman. (I won't provide a picture, sorry not happening). Maybe, I'm not a perfect ten but I didn't think I was below an 8 tbh. However, I never get approached when I put effort into the way I look (which is practically everyday). I always do my makeup and hair every morning, but on the days I slip up (like I did today) and have a bad hair day or go without makeup, guys usually approach me. While that may seem flattering its acually a little offensive and disheartening because I put a lot of effort into looking pretty and it seems to usually go unnoticed. So I was wondering if guys approach a girl who has a ponytail and isn't wearing any makeup more often than they would a girl who is trying (and I think succeeding) to look good is it because they either a. Find her more attractive when she doesn't try so hard, b. Feel a little courageous since she isn't as stunning, c. Find her to be uglier with no makeup and therefore, easier to woo or to have sex with😒, or d. Some other reason

Ps. I am very good at doing hair and makeup I have an eye for the stuff. I dont wear too much either so its not like I come across as a cake face. I dont even wear eyeshadow or contour I just use eyeliner and do my brows most days. So I know its not that I just have bad makeup skills or that Im using too much makeup.

I'm sorry but I just think natural beauty is attractive. Like if I see a girl wearing a pony tail, a t-shirt and some shorts and sneakers I think "That's a really pretty girl who's down to earth" Never put your hear in a bun on top of your head though. That's just icky. I also love braids. Girls who put effort in to their hair and makeup are still really pretty, but it's like looking at a Mercedes Benz, nice to look at, but you can't afford that car. Also the more YOU emphasize your looks, the more your inviting guys to be interested in you just because of your looks, and some guys might instinctively identify that as shallow. Not me, I just like them pony tails

There are two factors at work. Attractiveness and approach-ability. The average woman between 18-24 is more than attractive enough to the average guy, so approach-ability will be more of a difference maker.
If a woman spends too much time on her looks (high maintenance, etc.), she will be less approachable.
Furthermore, if attractiveness does matter a lot to guy (i. e. he'll pass on a 6 or 7), then he's probably pretty shallow anyway, agreed?

Plus men like the non-made up look. (My wife looks best on days when she doesn't think she looks her best.)

Check OKCupid Data analysis out someday on the net if you find it. It applies to online dating and gives insight into that but i think in general dating it may shed light on things like this in a logical way as well. People think less attractive people are better in the long term and more trustworthy, and if you consider them attractive, it means others (majority) will find him/her attractive as well so your chances will decrease with the number. So they think you're effortless and careless and less attractive, and it means your market demand is low and so their achievement percentage may be higher with you (like making out, or having sex etc.)..

I feel the same way. I don't know, but for some reason guys like me more when I'm wearing a sweatshirt and jeans and converse than when I'm all gussied up.

Some men like simple beauty, I'm a case in point. I would never approach a woman that puts to much effort into her looks. For the following reasons. One she is intimidating. And two, I would conclude that this lady is high maintenance and as a result definitely not for me. Finally three, she is too much into herself (vain and probably has too much pride).

A simple understated beauty is much more desirable to me than, a fashion socialite look. And that is just a question of taste in women.

Thats really disappointing. Im the complete opposite of everything you described. Especially the vain and shallow part. And I never would have thought a woman who tries to look presentable everyday would be seen as a poor choice in women.😕

REALLY hot girls are intimidating so get approached less than average looking girls who they think won't reject them as much. Could also be that when you put in the effort you come off as trying too hard and when you don't you're more comfortable in your own skin and better to socialise with.

SImple answer.

The more good looking a woman is the more shallow they usually are. Therefore they are more unapproachable so guys don't bother with trying. When women wear less makeup they do not look as attractive. When they wear no makeup they usually look awful (despite the hollywood no-makeup pic trend thing).

So you are more approachable because guys think their odds are better because you are not as hot.

You might think you look better but you'd be surprised.. I've seen some cases where a woman looked so much better without makeup and it was on TV series.

There were scenes where some of the females were in hospital so they purposely made them look dull but they ended up looking so much better.

Then some after some time lapse later, they were back to normal makeup and looked worse... If a whole makeup artist team can get it wrong, so can you.

A couple of possible reasons come to mind.
1: the trouble you take makes you too beautiful, out of most guy's league.
2: much less likely, they think you are a narcissist, perhaps with a superiority complex.

If you're as attractive as you say you are... putting on the effort into your looks, makes you seem out of their reach and that most likely intimidates them.

Without it, you're more approachable.

LIKE A WOMAN your reading too much into this "I'm ugly therefor easy..." NO NO NO. Us men are simple creatures, when your less "prettied up" your more approachable... in a way, more "honest" and that appeals to men, sure we love pretty things, but we are also very realistic, and like things we know we can keep up with! To me "realness" is more important than some eye shadow, my 2 cents.

No offence, there are some girls that spend hours to look pretty and come out as looking totally artificial. But they themselves often don't get it.

Not everything is about looks. And sometimes someone can look good by being chill about it. I'm not saying dirty people but people who stay clean but don't freak out about what they wear or a tiny spec of dirt
