What's with this stupid beard trend?

I know its been going on for years now but it seems lately 9 out of every 10 young males is sporting a stupid beard. Like if you are 20 something why would you want to look older? anyone else think its lame and the guys who have it are equally lame for wanting to be 'trendy' and follow the herd. Me and my girlfriends think its anything but sexy and shows the guy has no real individual character.

Beards have been a thing since forever but due to use of gasmasks and gas attacks in WWI and the fear of use of gas attackd in WWII shaving was the standard. Now beards are coming back since soldiers deployed in the middle east are encouraged to grow them because its a status symbol there still. Now men here grow them also. Shaving was the trend, beards are the standard.

Me and all my friends are trying to grow one.. I think the trend is here to stay..
I know I get more attention with facial hair then less. Plus I've pulled older women who without having scruff wouldn't have pulled..

For some, but for a whole lot of hipsters who don't groom or maintain it well it doesn't make sense. For those who grow them out for religious reasons, they take care of their beards. Hipster beards are really nothing special. I know plenty of hipsters, and their beards don't serve any perlite except to make them feel more excepted in hipster culture.
