My ex texted me after 5 months of no contact. What does he want?

I was dating this guy on and off for 1,5 year. The last time we met was when he told me that it's not working out and other bullshit. That was 1mnt before he went travelling for 5 months. I was really heartbroken because I know that he ended it just to be free for the last time while doing something extraordinary. While he was traveling ( after 4mnt travelling and 5mnt of no contact) he randomly texted me but just an emoji. It's been 3months since then but its kinda still bothering me. Why did he do that? When he ended it he told me that our paths may cross again when we are older and more mature. He is studying and very busy so I think his first priority was his career. Do you think know he kinda regrets his decision. Because my intuition says that he would love to come back but pride is taking over.

He kinda reminds me of my ex. My ex gave me that exact reason as well when he said he wanted to end it (he was traveling as well at the time) but then we kept talking as "friends" that flirted but he wanted me back. But then I realized what it was all about... Sex! He wanted me back just for sex. And the logic in your situation is basically like this: Why would he contact you now after all this time? He could have contacted you before he really wanted to be with you all this time. He could possibly just want one thing... The best way to move on from an ex is to block them and go permanent no contact. The entire concept of "if it's meant to be, then we will see in the end" is BULL! If he wanted to be with you, he would want it now and nothing would stop him. So just move on, don't respond, and protect your heart...

I mesn you are probably kinda right... but the thing is he was dtill travelling back then. So it was in te middle of his tour why would he randomly text me? I mesn I can't give him sex anyway... girl I don't get this dude

Maybe he's not really thinking of anything serious, but is more leaning on the "I want to date multiple people route." He wants to see if he can get back in your life and possibly in your bed one day. He is testing it. Personally if he broke up with you before, I would make him work for it to win me back... I'm that kinda girl lol :p but yeah guys are complicated sometimes but it's not hard to see what they really want from us at times

But honestly I'm laughing at his excuse for wanting to end it. It's so typical of a guy 😂 but I hope things are going well for you now and you are recovering ❤ I really wouldn't waste my time on someone who is giving you these mixed signals. You deserve BETTER
