This reminds me when I was 16 getting catcalled by a group of drunk girls in a Jeep when I was walking home one night. 😂
Yes, started when I was like 11-12, while in my school uniform. Pretty sick
The first time I was catcalled was when I was 12.
I don't think it's most men, just enough for most women to get catcalled.
I haven’t been cat called since I got out of high school. I must be ugly or guys only cat call girls who they think are under 18 lol jk
Honestly I'm shocked that there are 38 girls who have never been cat called. I swear I get cat called at least twice a week
Yeah I've been catcalled quite a few times and its quite annoying.
Once I had one bloke attempt to put his arm around me and had to tell him to back the fuck up.
Such disrespect these days... smh.
Nope I have not been catcall. I one creapy guy in my college always try to get in close. His breathing is anonying. I have a boyfriend.
Tbh, the only catcall I've ever done is to girls in traffic or on the side of the road. Not anything mean tho lol. It's more of a funny thing to do, not a creepy thing. Plus, sometimes you might make the girls day
It may seem funny and not at all creepy to you, but to the woman being yelled at by some random guy in a car it can be very scary. Many women have been followed by men in vehicles who were genuinely trying to hurt them or succeeded in doing so... so it sets off very rational alarm bells when a man pulls up in his car and starts trying to chat you up, or yells lewd sexual comments at you through his window. Just try to put yourself in the position of the person who is alone and being yelled at by someone twice their size. Its scary.
@Sara413 I know how some girls view it, I used to do it more as a teen, like 17-19. I'm 21 now, it's not really a thing we do anymore. But I know there's a lot of actual creeps in this world. And I'd take them out if I could. I never said anything like in the picture tho really, just kind of vague compliments or something to maybe make them laugh.
I'm also not trying to make it seem like it's right. And girls should be wary of things like that, you are 100% in the right to be defensive when alone. There's too many people who, like you said, do want to hurt people. I wish I could change that.
Exactly. Which is why it's so important that when this topic comes up guys react the way you did - not defensively. You recognized that women have good reasons to feel afraid when this happens instead of acting like I was saying you make women feel that way or like it's unfair or illogical for women to respond with fear. Kudos to you.
@Sara413 Thank you lol. I've always had at least 1 friend that is a girl, I respect them but I know how some dude's are. But none of the guy's I hang around with would just let a girl get harassed in public, if we saw it. We'd probably knock the guy out tbh, fuck that shit. At least I wouldn't let it happen. I don't touch unless the girl literally pulls me in, because I'm oblivious af to signals.
Well if he doesn't go over the limits its actually ok most of my girl/fruends actually like it but sometimes they get physical anx thats bad
I have been cat called lol. Lots of times. Somehow it never boosted my confidence but now it does lol.
Oh, and I don’t know why guys cat call. I don’t cat call, I think it’s pathetic.
Yes I think it’s true. I’ve been catcalled by groups of boys. There were usually racial remarks thrown in.
I've been catcalled, but I don't really care. It's not a big deal unless they start following you around, so I just ignore it and go about my business
Now that's the kind of maturity I like to see.
Yes I've been cat called before, by a police officer, when I was 13 (to be fair I looked pretty mature so I can see him not realizing I was young)
Whether you're 12 or 80 though it doesn't matter, catcalling is always gross and wrong...
If a girl is walking down the street and a guy calls out to he, she turns and flashes a smile and he is thrilled and she enjoyed being admired this is an example of a catcall is it not?
Please explain why it is gross and wrong. What the fuck gives you the right to condemn what just happened in that example?
@Chiral a person in authority should never abuse their power over someone. Whether he thought she was of legal age or not doesn’t matter, a police officer should always be professional on duty and not harass people walking by.
Compliments and catcalls are different. A compliment is ”you look nice”. ”I want to cum on your face” is not a compliment.
@lumos you said cat calling is always gross and wrong. I wasn't talking about the police officer, I agree that it's inappropriate in that case.
@Chiral in your scenario it depends entirely on what he said. ”Calls out to her” is extremely vague/ambiguous. Give a solid example.
@lumos yes it does. How about "hey darling" or "hey gorgeous" or just a whistle and a "will you marry me?". Remember I'm British so my idea of tame may be different from yours.
@Chiral I know I wouldn't appreciate any of those but that's just me
@lumos I could never call out in such a way to a woman, it would make me feel ridiculous.
I've been catcalled a few times... I can get annoying but I try to ignore... I sometimes reply back with a mean comment
I've been catcalled a few times, it sucks. Sometimes they like to say how they have "yellow fever" or "like Asian girls" its super creepy.
I get cat called a few times a month, regardless of how I look or what I'm wearing.
I get them daily, especially while waiting for public transpo on the way to school.
Had it happen so many times... makes you feel uncomfortable especially if you’re alone walking
I have since I was 12 and I find it absolutely annoying and disrespectful
I usually slap the hell outta the idiot that did it and go talk to her to make sure she's alright
Works more often than you'd expect
Some girls really need to stfu. ITS A COMPLIMENT, TAKE IT!!!
Hahahahahahaha, 2 guys like it and 2 girls dislike, that really says something
Sweetheart, have you ever been cat called? If not, then know that it's annoying. And plus you're being sexist. It's not just women who get cat called, men do to. It makes you feel insecure at times and why would anyone want that? The road is definitely not an appropriate place to call some sexy or hot. If you want to, meet them in a setting. Not on the bloody road.
I'm sorry I just can't take a 16 year old's comment seriously when it begins with a condescending sweetheart hahahahaha
To clarify, I'm not being sexist, sure I know it happens to us all but this post was specifically about women being catcalled so that's why I'm talking about women getting catcalled. Make sense? Regardless of appropriacy or insecurity, which I realise sometimes are involved, someone has to point out that people over-exaggerate about this all the time. You don't have to like it, not everyone likes it, but it's okay if you do. And it's impossible to say that ALL catcalling is either good or bad so I suppose I can't speak for every situation. But my point still stands that at the end of the day it' a positive thing that's been said about you
Being followed by 3 guys on bicycles yelling all the nasty things they want to do to me isn't a compliment.
Walking home in my work appropriate attire to have some man old enough to be my father ogle my chest and say he wants to cum on my tits isn't a compliment.
A car full of dudes driving by and yelling "hey baby how much?" Isn't a compliment.
If you find that type of behaviour flattering then you need to do some serious work on your self esteem.
I wish you'd get punched in the face.
"It's a compliment, take it!!1!!1!!1"
@Sara413 I did say I can't speak for every situation. Some catcalling is too vulgar but some I would honestly define as a compliment
@lumos 3 too many ! s, I don't use any 1s, skip the apostrophe and make it caps. And there you have it, once more, truly accurate to how I typed it, ITS A COMPLIMENT, TAKE IT!!! :P
@Opinion owner let's get a few things straight
1) me calling you sweetheart isn't condescending (spread girl love) and anyway that's besides the point.
2) I really don't think that my age defines my maturity. That is just an age old thesis.
3) the actual issue. Women and men both are being cat called. Not many take it as a compliment. Very few do and even then it's catcalling like"you're beautiful" or "you're really cute" not things they want to do to you in bed or whatever. That is just plain creepy. People sometimes don't even say anything. When they're driving past their car they slow down and just stare at you. That kind of shit happens. So, you really need to think before you speak. Because this is an actual problem. And not just some silly here and there thing.
There is a difference between a catcall and a compliment
I have never cat called a woman. It seems immature and ignorant, and uncaring.
Personaly though - i have no problem with catcalling
yes, I have been cat called before, think most women have.
No I've never been catcalled but I think is because I'm kinda intimidating... dunno.
Sort of the thing to do, completely immature and can affect women but it's more "about a laugh" some building on sites can get very boring depending on the day and sometimes nice to see some eye candy
I've been catcalled before , I've been whistlet at and everything.
Can I ask why does it matter? The guys are only talking to make you happy
kid, it's irritating. i always wanna punch 👊 those idiots. the guys doing it for themselves not to "make you happy" it's just creepy
it's not to make the girls happy,
it's to show power.
All those man are idiots.
they never do it when they are alone and there are 5 girls.
they never to it to someone who has a big brother who is a boxer or karate champ.
they never do it to girls that can kick their asses.
in other words, they are cowards, who like to show their power to females who show sign that they are weak.
I do it to girls I know but I call them pretty and stuff
There's a difference between telling them they're pretty and shouting down the street telling them they have nice tits
@ArfatShemantoLibra - I've been in the army, i have several martial arts training, but! by my look you'd never tell it cos i like to look feminine. ~ just to your "kick ass" part. other way we agree 😁
so, you meant to say, they couldn't tell that you are good with fights if they saw you?
@LunaJ
I've never cat called but I give the Giraffe "how you doin?" grunt.;)
Been catcalled, been stalked for ignoring catcalled.
Lol!
Thats not funny?
I might have don't it by accident through facial expressions. Sometimes it's extinct.
if that even counts
I dont understand why do boys do this shit! What do they get out of it? And why girls enjoy that?
Its almost out of my mind
I got catcalled lol probably more tastefully than guys do, but still
I got it so bad one day that I called the building company and made a complaint.
It was a guy building a house down the street from mine so he could see where I lived.
Eeeee
I was only 20 and he was a dirty old man, like fat chance m8.
Oddly, I've been cat called. I do not know why people do it.
I've heard and seen people being catcalled but I doubt most have been catcalled. Not me personally as far as I can remember
Am I the only one who never seen or heard anyone catcall a woman before and has never catcalled a woman or been catcalled before?
You're not the only one.
I've never catcalled anyone, nor have I seen it happen. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.
I dont see the big deal if a guy catcalls a woman then he is admiring her which could bot only make that womans day but it could boost her self esteem.
Would it boost your self esteem if an old drunk man yelled at you that he'd like to fuck you in the ass?
Sre thats different
It’s really not though. Those are the guys who shout at us.
Cat calling usually doesn't boost your self esteem because you're too scared they're going to do something if you don't react they want you to. (Whis is By falling at their knees)
I've been catcalled before, I look like a girl. But I dont think of it as some social issue. I just think of it as a dickhead trying to be funny.
I like this way of thinking.
I've been cat-called several times. More often than not, it IS uncomfortable.
Your opinion seen as anonymous but i can see your pro pic. There is something wrong
@shubhamchachapara: And, for clarification, what do you see in my profile pic?
It went off. There was face of someone (boy)
Its ok now. No need to report
@shubhamchachapara: A boy? Eeekk! It must be a G@G glitch. My profile pic doesn't have a face in it but some letters & numbers. Thanks for the observation. I will check with a G@G Rep about this.
There is nothing bad in being cat called. My friends and I use to do tjat when we see a fine girl. But I don't do it no more because some girls don't like it
I have never been cat called. Makes me think i am ugly
Makes a guy feel manly I guess. It's idiotic in my opinion
You don't need to be pretty to be cat called, you just have to not have a penis and balls.. That's it.
Men get catcalled
I was catcalled at 13 by a group of older guys (17-18) because I was taking off my sweatshirt and a bit of my stomach peeked out. While I do and always did look older than my age I didn't look older than maybe 15.
(17-18)
No, I have not been cat called before and i never cat called a girl.
I was cat called when I was only 12 3 men were Following me and my friend on the way home so we had to hide in the toilets for a while
Cat calling onky bad to woman onky if they dont like the guy. And a lot woman do like it. Stop it as long as it isn't threatening
i have literally never seen a woman being catcalled in my country
You don't have to see it for it to happen. I have literally never seen a man get catcalled but the polls prove that it happens.
@Mimi1721 i know it happens, but i was talking about my country only.
I get that, but I'm pretty sure it happens in every country. I can't see how some country's are the exception. Now I do know that some country's are defiantly worse then others.
I did it once pro forma, never understood the need either
I've always looked older than my age, and when I stopped wearing on school uniform, men thought they could say and look whatever and wherever they wanted to me and i should be fine with it.
Of all the things that get shouted at me cat calls are the last thing I need to worry about.
I've done it before multiple times. Especially with friends. It makes me feel powerful
Cat call is only disgusting if done improperly, and good if done right.
I don't remember the last time I heard anyone catcall. (Then again, I don't get out much.)
When i am well dressed, I find some girls whisper with each other about my look. It is also awkward for me.
Its not about wearing Tight Clothes n all ! LOL
Its all just such Guys never respected girl n wht they want is just fucking Pussy
N U can Find them anywhere
I think its the type of country y
ou live in. In the U. K. maybe you get eyed up or sometimes cat called in rare occasions but i think in the US you may get it more etc.
It's about the clothes. It's always been about what girls wear.
Really? Because I've been harassed while wearing a winter parka ffs...
@Sara413 me too. I've gotten catcalled when I wore baggy pants, big ass winter boots, a parka that went down to my knees, a big scarf that covered half of my face, and my hood up, yet I still got catcalled. Wow I'm such a slut :)
