Street harassment, which is more commonly known as “catcalling,” usually entails a loud whistle or comment of a sexual nature made by a man or group of men to a passing woman. In some cases, catcalling involves honking car horns at passing women, flashing vulgar gestures, self exposure to a woman, and even inappropriate grabbing.
If you’re a woman, it’s happened to you. It doesn’t matter if you’re dolled up and ready for a night on the town, or schlumping around in your sweatpants with a greasy ponytail and no makeup.
“Hey, baby.” “Looking good, mama.” “Why don’t you show me that pretty smile?” “Damn! Bring that ass over here!”
I want to make sth clear: there are lots of idiots out there learning their whole live that they need to be an asshole to attract women. People wonder why? Because society, but also because girls/women teach guys that behaviour. Remember your teenage time? Which nice friendly guy had great success with women? Almost none. The assholes were the preferred guys. The cool ones, every girls wants to be with. Probably because girls want somebody to have a status symbol. With time the opinion might chance and girls are more into nice guys because they realize that they want to be appriciated and treated nicely. But at this point a lot of guys learned the wrong behaviour and will not chance or at least not very easily. On the other hand, it's clear that some guys were idiots and will always be. So most probably it's not your fault as a single girl/woman. Another fact: girls are very different. As guys are too by the way. Some girls like to catch attention just to ignore guys and feel better because they are in the focus of attention. Those are not better than the "catcalling" guys. Worse, they often pretend how hard it is and that they don't like that (absolutely not meaning that saying that proofs that a girl/woman is one of those). In the end those women make it even harder for women like you, who do not like that "catcalling" behaviour. Why are guys doing that now? Well, some reasons you can find above. Another one is getting her attention as prime_sol mentioned. Even though it's not one of the nicer ways. Conclusion: it's not just the guy who is wrong here, it's also not just the woman... It's a combination of experience in life. But believe me... There are good guys outside there who are not "catcalling" and nice girls who are not pretending sth to get more attention. To find those is not nice but absolutely possible.
A lot of times the guy is showing off in front of his friends to be funny. And Not only men do this Girls do it as well when they are with friends to be funny. If you really think about it , it’s actually a compliment that someone found you attractive so it comes down to what type of person you are , you can laugh about it and smile or you can be pissed off and ignore it. It’s a way to get someone’s attention , I had girls catcall at me and to be honest I looked and if I thought the girl was attractive I would be like come here talk to me. But if I wasn’t attracted toward her I would still smile and keep walking lol again it comes down to what personality you have or what mood you are in. It’s also an easier way to get a strangers attention that you find attractive , I’d be lying if I said I never catcalled before , it’s just something that happens when you are blown away by how beautiful someone is and you want to get their attention , If I see a beautiful girl to get her attention I will say something to get her attention and try to look her in the eyes , sometimes cheesy pick up lines work lol
Any man who do that disrespect himself (immature who couldn't even control himself) before disrespecting that woman. It happened to me before, I hate it for sure, but I'm more angry when those things happen to my sisters, I wouldn't tolerate it.
Its the same reason drug addicts go to clinics with fake symptoms.
Or why people sue big companies when they didn't do anything wrong. Just like the cat callers, they weren't in if for the big kill, they just wanted to settle. Cuz when s sleaze sees a nice piece of ass walking by, maybe he can't have the whole thing, but he just might get it to turn around for a second and wink back.
Same reason some women (very few, I will admit, but I've been catcalled by women before, which made me realize a few things about how "normal" women feel about being catcalled) catcall men. They like what they see, and don't know how to approach the subject the right way.
Even thou man do it more women in groups do as well and untill you have experienced something like that you realize that it is embarrassing and makes you feel used and some how vulnerable. Great difference when that significant other does it to you, to me that means that we do want to feel used by one person. For more about my opinion just ask me.
By the way that only shows two main things one the lack of education (meaning educated not how much they know) and the second one is how they lack respect for them selfs and others...
I don't catcall women because it's disrespectful and not classy. I was raised to have manners and to be respectful of women. That's something a lot of guys seem to be lacking these days.
I don't think I've ever seen it, except once a girl in some kind of dominatrix leather outfit was crossing the road, and one driver waiting for her at a stop sign made some noise (but I don't think it was a legit catcall)
Can't say I understand all the complaining about catcalls. Maybe they happen in the ghettos somewhere?

They often don't respect women, which can stem from a dysfunctional childhood (or usually because one woman has hurt the guy and he wasn't emotionally strong enough to not take it out on women in general). It's free and it's excellent at explaining why men catcall and generally act the way they do.
Because she's hot and you want to get her attention. Girls bullshit with this nonsense too often. I've hollered at tons of girls. 50% smile and I'll get their number. 50% ignore me. Bitches don't care if they like you or you're "their type". If a girl is into you, you can slap her ass and have never met her before. She'll smile and blush and be turned on. She isn't into you, you can say hi and she'll be a bitch and you've known her for weeks.
He's being honest. You don't necessarily have to be the ass-slapping or cat-calling type. The point he's making is: when she's into you, you get more leeway. When she's not, she's typically going be walled off.
