Why do men cheat?

I've heard of many men in great relationships with beautiful women that they love end up cheating on them usually with someone less attractive that literally means nothing to them. Why risk something so special?

situation doesn't determine if someone will cheat or not... their character does.

People cheat because they lack willpower, they have no self-control over their desires and emotions. So opportunity controls their loyalty when they feel they're in a vulnerable position. i. e seduced by a beautiful woman/man or if they are unhappy within their relationship etc

SOME people who are in love and happy will cheat, and not everyone who is unhappy in their relationship will cheat.

People who cheat justify infidelity with excuses, but the sole reason for cheating , under any circumstances, is because of a persons lack of self-control and willpower. They are weak people

A lot guys can't resist getting attention from other women even if the relationship their in now is fine and especially if it doesn't happen often to them. If she's beautiful and attractive, it makes it even harder for them to turn away cause some men like the idea of another woman wanting to sleep with them cause it's exciting. It makes them feel attractive, desired, and let's them know if the current relationship flames out, they still have options. It could also be other things, such as lack of sex, lack of connection, don't feel loved, bored. But sometimes it's just wanting to have two desserts instead of one or just waiting until someone better come along

The sex might not be good enough with their girlfriend and it doesn't satisfy them. Their relationship might be so perfect it's boring, so they look for excitement elsewhere. They might just be doing it because it's forbidden and gives them a thrill. There are soo many possible reasons. Also, it's not just the men who cheat, I'm pretty sure women do it just as often.

I always had some issues in my head about this question. Here are some of my possibilities:
-Not enough sex in current relationship
- Wants to know if they're still attractive to other woman
- Tempted by other woman
-Not happy
- Wants a reason to leave
-Commitment phobia

I personally don't think that many men in a great relationship with a beautiful woman that they love would risk that by cheating. My opinion is that most cheaters are not in a great relationship (even if it looks that way from the outside). I think a guy that cheats is either not really committed to his partner (which is a relationship problem) or that there are other significant problems in the relationship. Those problems could be emotional issues or incompatibility in sex drives (he wants a lot and his partner doesn't), but I think there has to be something wrong - either with the guy or with the relationship - before a man will cheat.

Your question would be better received if you asked why people cheat rather than singling out men. Women cheat too and the numbers are pretty much equal.

That aside, people cheat for vanity, insecurity and the need for validation. They also cheat because they are too lazy to fix the problems in their relationship and prefer to invest in escapism.

The fact that there is no word for a male mistress has nothing to do with who cheats more and everything to do with the balance of power between genders, historically speaking. The term mistress is an old fashioned term. Hardly anyone uses that term anymore to describe an illicit partner.

I think, finding a girl who is interested in you sexually, is not common. Everyone loves getting more attention... If a guy feels that he can not be caught, hanging out with a temporary partner doesn't hurt. Loyalty only comes with ultimate satisfaction with current partner (which is rare).

The question is badly asked. Why do PEOPLE cheat? I'll probably say because they're asshole, since I despise cheaters deeply, but a more objective answer would be that:
-either they find in someone else what they don't find in the person they're with (to which i'd say they should just break up, but it's a personal opinion)
-Or they have more needs than one person can fulfill. (to which i'd say: stay single and you're free to fuck anyone you want)

I think we cheat when we start feeling like our other half isn't doing their part. That's just me though. I've only been unfaithful twice and that was 10 years ago both times was during a "break" and another female started to show interest.

I got a couple things to say on this one so
1) don't really think it's okay for anyone to hit anyone, why though it is seen as politically and socially and incorrect for a man to hit a woman is because of our biological makeup men are naturally more muscular and also have a more elastic muscle lining allowing them to can excess muscle a lot easier. Therefore if a man were to hit a woman it is a lot more likely that he will end up doing more damage than he thought and will end up hurting her a lot worse than she could ever hurt him. But regardless of that is still morally wrong and illegal for anyone to hit another person
2) who are these people you say people make it seem like it's always the man's fault but the only people I see saying things like that or offending topic what happened to The Men Who in fact have been accused or done something to the accused.

I meant when it comes to cheating. ( the context of your question) Yes a guy might have a hot beautiful wife, but what if she doesn't satisfy him in bed? What if she doesn't do the things that he likes or just don't want to have sex anywhere as often as they used to? He will probably look outside of the relationship and "beauty" isn't going to be top of his list. The guy just wants a decent looking woman who is WILLING to fuck, because its just physical.
