Why does my boyfriend leave bed to sleep on the couch?

Most nights my boyfriend of over 1.5 years will get up and go sleep on the couch. He says it's more comfortable but we have a brand new mattress. We've lived together for about 7 months and he's stayed over a lot before that. I can't recall him doing this until he moved in. It makes me feel like somethings wrong. I've tried to talk to him about it and tell him how it makes me feel but he insists it's nothing and continues to do it.

Maybe he's telling the truth. He may start hurting and getting stiff sleeping in the bed so he gets up to sleep on the couch.
The mattress may not be comfortable to him.
I have a new mattress and at first I thought it was great but after sleeping on it for several months it makes me stiff and achy.
Try turning the mattress around and over, he may be sleeping in a lump.

Be firm with him, put your foot down. Tell him how you feel, or you'll resent him and it won't be good.

This must be terrible for you and probably disturbs you as well.

You have to put your foot down, and explain how it hurts you and you cannot move forward like this.

Give him time to reflect.

Then his behaviour in the next month will determine it.

I see people saying snoring, needs space. First off you already talked to him so you know his reason, go to a mattress store together and let him pick. Matter fact get one of those beds that separate if in the end he wants his own "space". At the end of the day it's not like he sleeping at someone else house. Females complain about everything.

I do this all the time. I have diagnosed insomnia so I will start in the bed but the minute I feel I'm going to have trouble sleeping I'll move to the couch because I'm worried my tossing and turning will keep her up. So that worrying compounds my inability to sleep so I move both for her sake and mine.

Couches can be more comfortable for me. Maybe he's not a snuggler. Most people aren't. Try a mattress topper. They are a little pricey but from my experience, they are Divine. The thicker the better in my opinion. No raunchy intended

Personally, my feelings would be really hurt. I am sure its nothing though. Maybe he finds the couch more comfortable? I like my bed to be super soft, but other people hate soft beds. Its all about preference.

Seen some people comment soring etc if your worried that you snore or talk in sleep loudly record yourself one night. If you hear nothing well then it must be the bed. Either way I'd say he's sleeping on the couch because he sleeps better there. Hope you get things sorted :)

I have the same problem.. My hubby of 9 years does it all the time. Eventually you get used to going to bed alone

We go to bed together but in the middle of the night he'll get up and go to the couch. Maybe these guys are right, I've been told I snore lol but he'll, sometimes he does too.

He's probably telling you the truth... New mattresses are very Ridgid. Hard to get comfortable on. Talk to him about your concern and how you can rectify it by getting memory form or something.

Its more restful to sleep on the couch. So you must either move around a lot, talk in your sleep, hog the bed & covers or you don't fit in bed, i. e. laying together seems awkward.

Honestly, he’s probably struggling to adjust to sharing a bed with someone. You have less space, the sound of someone breathing next to you, the feeling of someone, it can be difficult to sleep.

Sounds like me. I prefer my own bed to sharing. The guy might be a bit of an introvert or the beds just not comfy.
It could also be thanks to your sleeping habits.

You might be terrible to sleep with (like actually sleep with). You wouldn't be the first woman to horde sheets in her sleep, general be uncomfortably warm to cuddle, kick/flail, or spread out diagonally
