No kiss on third date? is he shy?

So I’ve been dating this guy for about a month now, we’ve gone on 3 dates so far, but no kiss. I’m wondering if he’s shy. I know he’s into me because he refuses to let me pay for anything, meaning he wants to stand all costs. He holds my hands, brought me a bouquet of flowers on the third date and at the end, he planned two more dates with me in advance for this Friday and Sunday he even offered to pick me up. He even went to get his car washed and vacuumed before picking me up and called in to work to get two days off to spend time with me, so I know for sure he’s interested. On the third date, he booked the movie tickets 3 days in advance. So then, I wanted to break the touch barrier with him, so I leaned my head on his shoulder during the movie and he put his arm around me. When we were exiting the movie, he held my hands and walked me to my car, then said “Can I have a goodnight hug at least?” I turned back and hugged him and thanked him. I know we both wanna move to the next level and give a kiss but he’s shy and so am I. I’m willing to take the lead and try, how can I go about doing that without being awkward. We pretty much seem like a couple cause we text every single day and talk for the whole day. Also, he doesn’t seem reluctant to take me out in broad daylight to places where his friends work and saw us or even on weekends. So I know he’s serious. How can I move forward to a kiss? Like I said, I don’t wanna make it awkward between us.

Just breathe. It's ok, you are dating a nice guy. He is planning dates and making an effort to treat you well. Don't rush it, sounds like a sweet time between you two. Of course he is horny and thinks about sex 24-7, but he is being respectful towards you. Let him slowly feel comfortable and he will kiss you soon. I would say after another couple of dates if he hasn't kissed you yet it's worth talking about it. Nothing is wrong, he is just not a jerk and wants to make you happy.

I totally agree because I remember him saying that, “he wants to go at my pace” and “he respects my feelings and wouldn’t force me to do anything I wouldn’t wanna do”

One thing to remember is as guys we are constantly hearing stories about jerks and even worse. We grow up listening to complaints about guys who only want sex and about girls who feel badly when a guy uses and abuses them. Even worse is the rape culture and how guys victimize girls. As guys we have an ego and we want to be the hero. Based on these stories we want to be different, treat our girlfriend with respect and not rush into anything physical. We feel like the girl will see us as special if we don't immediately jump down her pants.

Now all this being said eventually we do need to take the lead and see if we can build the chemistry. That's why I suggested talking about it a bit, because if in conversation we hear the girl is open to kissing and more, or may have done that before, it makes us more confident and then the 'hero' can be the man who kisses the girl at the end of the movie. Romance can be Hollywood and we think that girls want the perfect romantic story.

I made the move on the first kiss too with my boyfriend. I decided instead of thinking about it through the whole date, when he picked me up and I opened my door, I leaned in and gave him a kiss. I felt him relax and he gave me a bigger kiss. Just had to be brave and bold. Then the rest of the date was even better and we were both more relaxed with PDA. Go for it!!!

I’ll do that because when I leaned my head on his shoulder, he automatically responded by putting his arms around me so I’m assuming, he’ll act the same way when I attempt to kiss him :) thank you

Or even do it when you are hugging. Kiss his neck. Once he starts to get comfortable with you and he likes the kissing his hands are going to start roaming around all over your body.
