Do I only miss my ex because I haven't found someone else?

its been 5 months. I still miss him everyday, and I always run into him and his new girl. apparently he's not happy with her, but he's still with her?

i'm in a place in my life where I feel like I know everyone I need to know around where I live. I have no way of meeting new people. and I haven't found anyone else I'm interested in, in 5 months.

do you think this is why I'm still not over him, and still miss him? or has anyone ever gotten over a breakup, without having another person their interested in?

Yeah unfortunately the only thing it takes is time focused on yourself. To be honest he is not happy with but still with her out of fear of being alone. It's a rebound, the new girl is his way of coping. I'm still working on mine. I'm not over my ex. But I try and surround myself with other friends go out and meet new people and such. It makes those hours you wish you could speed up actually go faster. The biggest thing I have over come was the fact it was over. So instead of missing my ex I thought about the lessons I have learned and the good times I had. I will admit I have been here before and each time I learned something new. The biggest thing you have to do is accept it for what it is and start enjoying the things you can out of life it is too short. How short you ask? Well say I live to 85, I am 24 now, that gives me 22,265 days till the day I die...That doesn't seem like much. One piece of advice I can give you now is if you meet someone new and there might be something there, do not compare them to your ex, unless "warning signs" . But it's a common mistake and you end up never giving a chance to something you have no idea of what it could become.

It is true, that if you find someone else, it makes getting over the guy much easier, but what I've realized is that the best things happen when you least expect them too. As difficult as it sounds, try to notice that it wasn't meant to be and you are most probably better off with out him. Try concentrating on school and friends and try to not obsess so much about getting over him, maybe that way someone, even if its someone you already know, may pop up, surprise you and completely sweep you off your feet. I did, its not about with someone else... moving on is about being happy with yourself and learning to enjoy being single again. Spend more time with friends and try to keep yourself busy.
